Chinese authorities added that this event builds on joint maritime exercises between China, Russia and Iran in 2019 and 2022. The move "will help deepen practical cooperation between the participating navies."
This will be the fifth joint exercise of the Russian, Chinese and Iranian navies since 2019. According to RT, in January 2022, 11 Iranian ships, 3 Russian warships and 2 Chinese warships participated in joint exercises in the northern Indian Ocean.
