China accuses the US of taking advantage of Canada in the Meng Wanzhou case
The US has abused the US-Canada Extradition Treaty in the case of Ms. Meng Wanzhou - Chief Financial Officer of Huawei Corporation.
Speaking at a regular press conference, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said that in the Meng Wanzhou case, the Canadian government needs to explain to the people about the issues regarding the evidence provided by the US side.

Mr. Uong Van Ban emphasized that according to documents released by the Canadian Court, the US has abused the US-Canada Extradition Treaty to achieve political purposes in suppressing Chinese high-tech enterprises, including Huawei.
The spokesperson of the Chinese Foreign Ministry affirmed that Canada's acceptance of the US's unreasonable request to arrest Ms. Meng has caused tension in China-Canada relations. The essence of this problem is that the US has taken advantage of Canada, trading off the interests of the Canadian people to serve the political purposes of a few US politicians as well as the commercial interests of US companies.
“It is clear that the longer the Meng Wanzhou case drags on, the more it will harm China-Canada relations,” said Wang Wenbin. “China hopes that Canada will see clearly the political plots of the United States, correctly assess the nature of the matter and its own interests, promptly handle the Meng Wanzhou case, remove obstacles to the development of China-Canada relations, and take practical actions to put the relationship between the two countries back on the right track.”
The Chinese Foreign Ministry's response was aimed at the recent evidence provided by Ms. Meng Wanzhou's lawyer to the Supreme Court of British Columbia, Canada, showing that there are many loopholes and hidden issues in the evidence of the "bank fraud" charges that the US has brought against Ms. Meng, and that the extradition process for Ms. Meng has been distorted and unfair, and at the same time requested the Canadian Court to immediately stop this process.
Meng Wanzhou's legal team is rushing to present new evidence in her favor as her extradition case is entering its final stages. On May 27, the Supreme Court of British Columbia issued its first ruling on Meng's case, stating that Meng Wanzhou's case meets the dual criminality criteria and that her extradition to the US will continue to be considered./.
