(Baonghean.vn) - China is ready to negotiate and work with the United States to resolve trade disputes, as the world's two largest industries are at odds, Vice President of the People's Republic of China Wang Qishan said on November 6.

Ahead of a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping in late November, President Donald Trump threatened to impose additional tariffs on $267 billion in Chinese imports if the two sides failed to reach a trade deal.

“Both China and the United States want broader cooperation in economics and trade,” Wang Qishan told the Bloomberg New Economy Forum.

“The Chinese side is ready to negotiate with the US on issues of mutual concern and resolve trade disputes in a mutually satisfactory manner.” Mr. Wang also affirmed that Beijing supports the settlement of international disputes in accordance with international law and consensus.

“The world today faces many problems that require strong cooperation between China and the United States,” Wang said. “We firmly believe that it is mutually beneficial for both China and the United States to shift from confrontation to bilateral cooperation.”

Mr. Wang Qishan reiterated the view that President Xi Jinping made at the opening ceremony of the China International Import Expo on November 5, about Beijing's commitment to continue opening up its economy, amid escalating tensions in relations with the United States.

Previously, Trump criticized China for stealing intellectual property, hindering business and causing a trade deficit for the US.
