China sanctions US company for selling arms to Taiwan
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang announced that China will impose sanctions on US companies involved in arms sales to Taiwan (China).

According to Xinhua News Agency, the statement was made four days after the US announced plans to sell $2.2 billion worth of weapons to Taiwan.
In the above online statement, Mr. Geng Shuang emphasized: “The US arms sale to Taiwan seriously violates the basic principles of international law and international relations. In order to safeguard national interests, China will impose sanctions on US enterprises involved in arms sales to Taiwan.”
Previously, on July 9, Beijing also issued a statement asking the US to immediately stop its intention to sell weapons to Taiwan (China) to avoid undermining the sovereignty and security interests of this Asian country.
In a statement, Spokesperson Geng Shuang said the US arms sale to Taiwan is a serious violation of China's "one China" principle, saying that this action is an interference in China's internal affairs and undermines China's sovereignty and security interests.

If the project goes ahead, it would be the first major military contract between the US and Taiwan in decades, and would likely further strain already strained relations between Washington and Beijing over trade issues between the two countries.
Beijing has clearly expressed its opposition to the above arms sale plan, expressing "particular concern" over the arms sale plan between the US and Taiwan.
