Grassroots radio - a bridge connecting the Party's will and the people's hearts
(Baonghean.vn) - Recognizing the importance of the grassroots broadcasting system, Thanh Chuong district has focused on investing in improving the quality and efficiency of grassroots stations, contributing to stabilizing security and order and developing the local economy and society.
It has been more than 10 years since the commune radio system was installed and put into use. Every day at 5am, all the people of Thanh Van commune, Thanh Chuong district wake up and prepare for a new working day.

As the person directly operating the commune radio system, Ms. Trinh Thi Nhung excitedly said: "Listening to the radio has become a habit. In addition to providing information and propaganda, it is also a daily alarm clock. Whenever there is a power outage or damage and the radio cannot be broadcast, people call to ask. Some people even complain that the radio is turned off and disrupts their family's work schedule."
Not only in Thanh Van commune but also in most communes in Thanh Chuong district, the grassroots radio system is considered an effective means to propagate the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws to the people; it is a tool serving the leadership and direction of the Party committees and grassroots authorities.
However, for many years now, the grassroots broadcasting system has faced many difficulties, many stations have closed, and some have had to operate at a limited capacity.

Faced with this situation, Thanh Chuong District Party Committee has directed the District People's Committee to implement Decision No. 265/QD-UBND dated January 18, 2013 of the Provincial People's Committee on "Developing the grassroots radio system to the commune, ward and town levels in Nghe An province by 2020"; survey and issue plans to improve the quality and efficiency of grassroots radio stations. However, for many years now, the grassroots radio system has been facing many difficulties. After many years of investment, the entire district had 40/40 communes and towns with radio stations, but by May 2014, only 9/40 were still operating, the rest were operating at a low level.
Accordingly, on May 16, 2014, Thanh Chuong District People's Committee issued Plan No. 845 KH/UBND on "Consolidating and developing grassroots radio broadcasting, period 2014-2020" with the general goal of: Building and consolidating grassroots radio broadcasting with synchronous facilities, equipment, apparatus; mechanisms, policies and methods of operation, meeting the requirements of providing information and propagating the transmission of scientific and technological advances, typical advanced examples to the people, creating consensus to build a civilized and prosperous homeland...

Along with that, the district has implemented many tasks and solutions regarding human resources, investment in facilities, equipment, and information content. The most notable of which is the annual support for communes to build new and repair stations, ensuring that all stations are operational. Specifically, the district has supported the construction of new stations in Thanh Phong, Thanh Van, and Ngoc Son communes and the upgrading and repair of many other stations. Thanks to that, before the recent election of National Assembly and People's Council deputies at all levels, over 70% of commune and town radio stations were operational.
Along with upgrading and building new facilities, the district and communes are stepping up propaganda work so that people and sectors and organizations are more aware of the importance of the grassroots broadcasting system, thereby enhancing responsibility in state management as well as the operation of grassroots broadcasting stations. At the same time, training sessions are regularly organized to improve the qualifications of station managers; and allowances are proposed to be increased so that grassroots broadcasting managers can work with peace of mind.
With the results achieved in the past time, we believe that the grassroots broadcasting system in communes and towns in Thanh Chuong district will continue to receive investment attention to operate better, truly being a bridge between the Party's will and the people's hearts.
