From June 1, the new set of theoretical questions in the road motor vehicle driving license test will be officially applied nationwide.

The Traffic Police Department (C08, Ministry of Public Security) said that from June 1, the whole country will officially deploy a new set of theoretical questions in the road motor vehicle driving license (GPLX) examination. This marks an important transition in the management of training, testing and granting of driving licenses - from the Ministry of Transport (now the Ministry of Construction) to the Ministry of Public Security.

Not only has the responsible unit changed, the new exam set has also been comprehensively improved in both content and structure, aiming to improve the quality and practical application of candidates after being granted the certificate.

The new set of questions includes 600 questions, divided into categories, ensuring full coverage of the knowledge needed for drivers. In addition to familiar content such as Traffic Law, sign systems and driving techniques, the new test adds many questions simulating real-life situations as well as skills to handle dangerous situations.

This is considered a notable highlight to eliminate mechanical memorization, forcing candidates to understand the nature and know how to apply knowledge into practice.

In particular, the new set of questions has a group of “failure points” questions – focusing on serious violations such as running red lights, driving under the influence of alcohol, driving in the wrong direction or not obeying traffic police orders. If any of the “failure points” questions are answered incorrectly, the candidate will fail, regardless of the total number of correct answers. This is a “failure point blocking” mechanism to ensure that students do not neglect any content in the test.

The exam structure is also clearly differentiated according to each Driver's License category:

Grade A1, A2, B1 automatic: 25 questions, required to answer at least 21 questions correctly and no wrong answers.

B1 and B2: 35 questions, minimum 32 correct questions and no wrong questions.

Grades C, D, E, F: 40 questions, requiring at least 37 correct answers and absolutely no wrong answers.

The test time remains between 15 and 20 minutes, depending on the test category.

The representative of the Traffic Police Department emphasized: With the new set of questions, candidates are forced to completely change their traditional learning methods. Learning tricks, memorizing or just superficially reviewing theory will no longer be effective and can easily lead to failure, especially when encountering zero-point questions or difficult real-life situations if the knowledge is not firmly grasped.

The Department also recommends that candidates study comprehensively, focusing on situation handling skills and a deep understanding of Traffic Law. For example, when reviewing questions about running red lights or driving under the influence of alcohol, instead of just remembering the answers, candidates should clearly understand the fines, the risk of causing accidents and the related legal consequences - thereby creating a solid knowledge foundation, serving real traffic safety after obtaining a license.
