From factory, boarding house to model dialogue

“MODEL CONFERENCE”

That is the comment of comrade Ngo Duy Hieu - Vice President of Vietnam General Confederation of Labor aboutDialogue Conferencebetween the Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee and workers on May 22.

In his speech at the Conference, Mr. Ngo Duy Hieu - Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor shared: “Entering the hall, witnessing the radiant joy of the workers, the full participation of the provincial leaders, leaders of departments, branches and sectors, I am very happy. The program is truly grand, professional and thoughtful. This shows that the Nghe An Provincial Confederation of Labor has prepared a very methodical program, the opinions and recommendations of the workers are diverse and rich, all are very typical issues, of interest to the workers. In particular, the workers stood up to speak very frankly and democratically. The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee chaired the conference in an interesting way, creating a close, sincere, respectful and understanding atmosphere”.

The Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor said that during the dialogue, in his role as chair, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Nghe An province not only communicated information but also conveyed messages and inspiration to a large number of cadres, union members and workers.

The responses of the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and the leaders of departments and branches are in accordance with the law and close to the reality of workers' lives. Any issues that can be resolved immediately are proposed and assigned to relevant authorities to resolve, and any issues that require time to research and are not under the province's authority are also clearly explained and analyzed. The commendation of exemplary workers and honoring businesses for workers are also very appropriate contents for this event. This shows the concern and care of the leaders of Nghe An province for workers and businesses.

Before the event, the petitions were sent to the relevant departments and branches and were answered in writing in a very specific and complete manner. At the event, the representatives of workers had 15 questions in 6 groups of issues: Wages, income; Nursery, housing, land, market, electricity, water; Security, temporary residence, traffic safety; Social insurance, health insurance, food safety; Emulation and rewards; Compliance with labor laws.

Sharing about the preparation of the event, Ms. Hoang Thi Thu Huong - Head of the Policy - Law - Labor Relations Department, Provincial Federation of Labor said: "For the past 2 years, Nghe An Trade Unions at all levels have carried out many activities to survey and collect all opinions, recommendations and proposals from workers in all districts, branches, and all grassroots unions through many channels and in many forms. Trade union officials have visited boarding houses outside of working hours, met with employers, distributed survey forms, interviewed workers, organized dialogues at all levels... To have a systematic and reasonable organization of the first provincial dialogue event, Provincial Federation of Labor officials attended district-level dialogues to gain experience, from arrangement, organization to selection of typical questions, from connecting with departments, branches and branches to encouraging workers to share... The success of the event demonstrates the government's concern for workers, laborers, efforts and responsibility. responsibility of all workers and union officials in the province".

In the dialogues at the business, workers have opinions and wishes that are beyond our scope and capabilities and we ourselves do not know how to respond and support. At this dialogue, workers directly make recommendations to the provincial leaders, then those issues will certainly be handled much faster and more neatly”.

PRIDE OF WORKERS

The 320 delegates present at the event were 320 union members, workers, and typical laborers from 21 districts, cities, and towns in the province. They are all shining examples in labor and production, and are people with the capacity, qualifications, and awareness to represent the working class in the new era.

To be present before the event, many district and industry unions organized for workers to arrive the day before or leave very early. “Nghia Dan District Labor Federation arranged 2 cars, departing at 4 am to be present in Vinh City before 7 am. To represent the working class and laborers to attend this event, everyone was excited and honored. Before attending, everyone was very happy to receive shirts and gifts from Nghe An Labor Union. Returning after the event, that joy and honor were multiplied many times over” - Ms. Nguyen Thi Quynh Trang, Vice President of Nghia Dan District Labor Federation, shared.

One of the special things noted at the dialogue event between the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and workers was the appearance of "worker reporters". Besides the cameras of the Central and local reporters, there were also phones turned on to record and livestream for nearly 3 hours.

When asked the reason, Ms. Tran Thi Chuyen (Minh Anh - Kim Lien Garment Joint Stock CompanyDo Luong) explained: “We are trusted by workers across the district to send their thoughts, wishes, and concerns to this conference and are responsible for bringing back answers and solutions from the government. People at home are looking forward to hearing these answers. In addition to sharing directly, sharing online like this will ensure accuracy, completeness, and more dissemination.”

Commenting on the quality of the dialogue, Ms. Chuyen and her colleagues affirmed: “A wonderful event, successful beyond expectations. All the issues asked and mentioned were very practical, close, and accurate to the needs and aspirations of workers and laborers. All the answers from the government were satisfactory, sincere, and thorough. We believe that all the workers and laborers attending felt proud and satisfied with this event.”

As one of the 50 outstanding workers recognized at the event, Ms. Bui Thi Linh (Worker of Luxshare ICT Nghe An Co., Ltd.) confided: “This is the first time in my life that I have met and directly talked with the leaders of the provincial government, and it is also the first time that I have been recognized and honored by the Provincial Federation of Labor. After returning from this event, I am even more proud of my work and will strive to be worthy of everyone's trust and recognition.”

In his speech at the dialogue conference between the Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee and workers, Mr. Ngo Duy Hieu - Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor repeated a saying of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong: "The working class andtrade unionalways stand at the center of the country's events". And indeed, the dialogue took place in this spirit.
