On May 12, Northern Fleet spokesman Vadim Serga said the Marshal Ustinov ship arrived in the Barents Sea to carry out the second mission in the combat training plan.

Specifically, the crew will practice coordinating combat formations, complete a number of on-board exercises on air defense, anti-submarine warfare, as well as damage control on board while moving and anchoring.

After the exercises, the Marshal Ustinov will return to the Northern Fleet base in Severomorsk, Murmansk Oblast, northern Russia.

The Marshal Ustinov has been in service with the Northern Fleet since 1986. The ship is 186 meters long, 20.8 meters wide, has a maximum speed of 32 knots and can accommodate 500 crew members.

The ship is equipped with 16 cruise missile launchers as well as anti-aircraft, artillery and anti-submarine weapons.

The Russian Navy currently operates three missile cruisers of this type, including the Moskva of the Black Sea Fleet, the Varyag of the Pacific Fleet and the Marshal Ustinov of the Northern Fleet.

The Russian Navy exercise took place at the same time as the naval exercise of Romania, the UK and the US, which took place over 4 days from May 12-15 in the Black Sea, in Romanian territorial waters./.
