Commemorating the 91st death anniversary of comrade Nguyen Tiem - the first Secretary of Nghe An Provincial Party Committee
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of October 26 (September 12, Quy Mao year), leaders of Nam Dan district, Trung Phuc Cuong commune and representatives of the Nguyen Van family respectfully held an incense offering ceremony to commemorate the 91st death anniversary of comrade Nguyen Tiem - the first Provincial Party Secretary in the Soviet homeland (November 10, 1912 - October 11, 1932).
Comrade Nguyen Tiem was born in 1912, in Duong Lieu village, now Trung Chinh hamlet, Trung Phuc Cuong commune, Nam Dan district, in a patriotic Confucian family.
Born and raised in a countryside rich in traditions of studiousness, patriotism and revolution, with many famous scholars, many heroic figures, representing the bravery and spirit of a heroic nation, witnessing with his own eyes the country in misery, the oppressed and exploited working people, Nguyen Tiem soon nurtured in himself the idea of patriotism, determined to follow the revolutionary path to save the people and the country.

From a patriotic youth, Nguyen Tiem soon became a revolutionary cadre of the Party. In June 1930, when he was not yet 18 years old, he was appointed by the Central Branch in Central Vietnam to the Provisional Provincial Executive Committee of Nghe An. Only 4 months later, he was officially elected Secretary of the Nghe An Provincial Party Committee. He was the youngest Provincial Party Committee Secretary and also the first Provincial Party Committee Secretary in the Soviet homeland.
In November 1931, he was captured by the enemy and sentenced to death, later reduced to hard labor and exiled to Lao Bao Prison.
In the political prisoner trial on January 18, 1932, the Southern Court sentenced comrade Nguyen Tiem to death. Right at the trial, many revolutionary soldiers, including French officials who sympathized with the revolution, admired Nguyen Tiem and protested against the verdict, demanding humane treatment for seriously ill prisoners.
Under pressure from the masses, on June 24, 1932, the Resident of Central Vietnam was forced to make a decision to reduce Nguyen Tiem's sentence to life imprisonment. On July 23, 1932, they exiled him to Lao Bao prison.
Lao Bao Prison (Quang Tri), a place of wild forests and poisonous waters bordering Vietnam-Laos, even healthy people find it difficult to survive the harsh prison regime, and with a sickly and weak body like Nguyen Tiem, it is even more difficult. The enemy locked him in a Casso (a closed cellar) with the intention of slowly killing him, but Nguyen Tiem remained calm and optimistic, still participating in activities in the prison, and when he was healthy, he still composed poems to encourage his fellow prisoners to remain steadfast in their revolutionary spirit.
Due to severe torture during his serious illness, comrade Nguyen Tiem breathed his last at Lao Bao prison on October 11, 1932, at the age of 20.

The leaders of Nam Dan district offered incense and flowers to express their respect and infinite gratitude for the great contributions of comrade Nguyen Tiem to the Vietnamese revolution. The example of comrade Nguyen Tiem, a loyal and indomitable son of his homeland, further fostered patriotism and educated revolutionary and patriotic traditions for cadres, party members and local people.

On the same day, the Party Committee of Hung Tien Commune, Nam Dan District held a ceremony to award Party Badges to veteran Party members. This time, the Party Committee of Hung Tien Commune was honored to have 21 comrades awarded Party Badges, including 3 Party members awarded the 75-year Party membership badge, including comrades Nguyen Dinh Bao, Nguyen Huu Vy, and Le Dinh Chung.
