Ukraine will not survive war with Russia, declares
Former Head of the Security Service of Ukraine Igor Smeshko said this on the TV channel "112 Ukraine".
Ukrainian soldiers.
"We cannot show any success, neither in the economy nor in the development of the armed forces. Yes, we can now temporarily restrain the opposition groups in Donetsk and Lugansk. However, everyone knows that in theory if the Russian Federation mobilizes the Air Force to conduct an offensive operation, our army simply will not be able to withstand it," he said.
Smeshko said that the country's military budget is inefficient and explained the reason for this due to "lack of transparency". For example, according to him, in the US only 1.5-2% of GDP is allocated annually to defense and the US Congress website clearly states the purchases with budget money "down to the penny", while Ukraine's draft budget for 2019 in the military sector allocates up to 5.3% of GDP but no one knows what is spent.
Kiev regularly launches various unsubstantiated accusations against Moscow, including "interference" in internal affairs, participation in the conflict in the southeast of the country, conducting "hybrid warfare" of espionage and cybercrime, etc. Russia denies these absurd accusations and calls such statements unacceptable blatant slander.
