Ukraine begins to behave rudely towards its neighbors

Belarus reacts to the words of the Deputy Speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament about the act of “stabbing in the back”. In an interview with Sputnik, political scientist Alexander Dudchak called the Ukrainian side's claims at least unreasonable.

With such "accusations" Ukrainian politicians are only trying to attract attention, the Belarusian Foreign Ministry said.

Belarus Foreign Ministry press secretary Dmitry Mironchik said this when commenting on the statement of the Vice-Chairwoman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Irina Gerashchenko, that Belarus seemed to have "stabbed Kiev in the back" by voting against the draft resolution proposed by Ukraine on the issue of human rights in Crimea.

"Speaking of unfounded accusations against Belarus, it is gratifying that the majority of those who voiced this opinion are politicians who have fallen to the sidelines of politics and do not hold real power," - the website of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry quotes Mr. Mironchik as saying.

However, the diplomat added, such statements go beyond the boundaries of political PR when they are followed by calls for acts of sabotage in Belarus.

The author of the appeal, Kiev City Council deputy Igor Miroshnichenko, believes that it is necessary to "wrest" Belarus from Russia's sphere of influence.

“Here there needs to be intervention of help from doctors or law enforcement agencies, and preferably both,” - Mr. Mironchik concluded.

This week, the UN General Assembly's Third Committee on Human Rights, Humanitarian and Social Affairs adopted a draft resolution proposed by Ukraine on the human rights situation in Crimea. The document will be considered at the plenary session of the 72nd UN General Assembly.

The draft resolution condemns "violations of human rights and discriminatory measures against the residents of temporarily occupied Crimea." It also calls on Russia to ensure education in the Ukrainian and Crimean Tatar languages and to allow the "Crimean Tatar Mejlis" (an extremist organization banned in Russia) to exist.

In an interview with Sputnik, political scientist Alexander Dudchak noted that the claims of the Ukrainian authorities are at least baseless.

"Among Ukraine's neighbors, there is no country where Kiev does not make meaningless demands. Sometimes Kiev behaves rudely, for example, in the case of Belarus, and this is unacceptable. Belarus is trying to create an opportunity for negotiations between Kiev and Donbass, trying to promote the process of restoring peace in Ukraine. Speaking about complaints about the human rights situation in Crimea, a country that violates all international human rights standards cannot make such demands on others. Ukraine's claims are incomprehensible and baseless. It seems that Kiev comments on the events in Crimea on the basis of its own ideas, without knowing the information about what is happening in reality. Ukraine has never granted the status of "national language" to Crimean Tatar, but Russia has done so," - said Alexander Dudchak.

Crimea returned to Russia after a referendum held there in March 2014, in which more than 95% of Crimea's population voted to join the Russian Federation. Kiev still considers Crimea a temporarily occupied part of Ukraine.
