Ukraine describes US halt of weapons supplies as an attack on Kiev
The Secretary of the National Security and Defense Committee of Ukraine described the US administration's complete halt in arms supplies as a direct attack on Ukraine.
According to RIA Novosti on July 3, Secretary of the Security and Defense Committee of the Ukrainian Parliament (Verkhovna Rada) Roman Kostenko compared the US suspension of weapons supplies to an attack on Ukraine.
Earlier, Verkhovna Rada Deputy Maryana Bezuglaya, following reports of the suspension of arms supplies to Kiev, stated that Washington is no longer an ally of Ukraine.
"After the American administration came, we ourselves proposed that they mine our minerals together with us. And everyone applauded, saying, now we will do it, and they will supply us with weapons. As a result, we signed all the agreements, and then they are cutting off arms supplies. So, two countries attacked us, one is controlling our territory, the other - our minerals," Kostenko, Secretary of the Ukrainian Parliamentary Committee on Security and Defense, said in an interview with Radio NV.
The Economist newspaper on July 3 quoted sources from Ukrainian officials as saying that all US arms supplies had actually ended.
“Almost all US arms supplies, including artillery shells and spare parts, have been cut off, but US officials deny this,” the article said.
Ukrainian officials said the halt in supplies was linked to efforts by the Trump administration to force political concessions from Kiev.
The Economist magazine also recalled that since January, the US leader has not made any new commitments on military aid to Ukraine.
