Ukraine to increase defense spending in 2019
(Baonghean.vn) - Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko announced that the country will continue to increase its defense budget. The country will increase military spending in 2019 to "continue to strengthen the army, speed up the progress of equipping and re-equipping with the latest weapons and military equipment".

Accordingly, President Poroshenko approved the proposal of the National Defense and Security Council to allocate more than 5% of gross domestic product (GDP), about 7.5 billion USD, for essential needs of the defense sector in 2019.
Ukraine's defense priority policy will focus on the following areas: development of production or purchase of new types of weapons and military equipment, especially modern missile weapons, cruise missile systems; strengthening the air defense system and air force capabilities of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
One of the defense aspects that Ukraine is interested in is ensuring cyber security. President Poroshenko asked to propose solutions to develop and modernize information security programs, especially in implementing the project "National Intelligence for 2016-2020", as well as to strengthen activities against terrorism and hostile forces.
Along with the development of weapons and military infrastructure, the military regime will also be increased by at least 30%.
