Nghe An Provincial People's Committee issues sustainable poverty reduction plan

Recently, the People's Committee of Nghe An province issued Plan No. 322/KH-UBND to implement the National Target Program.Poverty reductionsustainable in 2023 in Nghe An province.

The plan sets out the goal of reducing poverty in a multidimensional, inclusive, sustainable manner, limiting poverty relapse and poverty generation; mobilizing all resources to focus on investment in economic development, perfecting the rural infrastructure system, training vocational skills, creating jobs for workers, rapidly increasing income, improving living conditions and quality of life for the people.

Support the poor,poor householdExceeding the minimum living standard, accessing basic social services according to the national multidimensional poverty standard, improving the quality of life; supporting poor districts and poor communes to escape poverty and extreme hardship.

Nghe An sets a target of striving to reduce the poverty rate by 1-1.5% in 2023, of which the mountainous area will reduce by 2-3%; the poverty rate in poor districts will reduce by 4-5%.

Supported subjects include: Poor households, near-poor households, and households that have just escaped poverty (within 36 months from the time the household is recognized by competent authorities as having escaped poverty) in the province (priority is given to poor ethnic minority households, poor households with members who have contributed to the revolution; children, people with disabilities, and women in poor households, near-poor households, and households that have just escaped poverty); laborers in poor households, near-poor households, and households that have just escaped poverty; and people living in poor districts.

Poor districts in Nghe An province that are supported include: Ky Son, Tuong Duong, Que Phong, Quy Chau... In addition, there are also vocational training facilities, employment service centers, businesses, and cooperatives in the area.

Specifically, Nghe An implemented 7 support projects, including: Supporting investment in developing socio-economic infrastructure in poor districts; Diversifying livelihoods, developing poverty reduction models; Supporting production development, improving nutrition; Developing vocational education and sustainable employment; Supporting housing for poor and near-poor households in poor districts; Communication and poverty reduction in information; Improving capacity and monitoring and evaluating the Program.

The total capital for implementing the National Target Program on Sustainable Poverty Reduction in 2023 is over VND 512 billion. Of which, development investment capital is over VND 204 billion and public service capital is over VND 308 billion.

The Provincial People's Committee has clearly stated solutions to implement the National Target Program on Sustainable Poverty Reduction in 2023, as well as clearly assigned implementation responsibilities to relevant departments, branches, sectors and localities.
