Why have agricultural products in the Ban Ve hydroelectric reservoir stopped falling in price?
(Baonghean.vn) - This year, the communes in the inner area of Ban Ve Lake in Tuong Duong District had a good harvest. Besides, the traffic routes have now reached the centers of the remote communes such as Nhon Mai, Mai Son, Huu Khuong, so the price of agricultural products has not dropped.

This year, the Tay Nghe An route was completed, so traders' vehicles could reach the center of the communes around Ban Ve lake, so agricultural products were both in season and easy to sell, making people very excited. |
Mai Son and Nhon Mai communes (Tuong Duong) located in the Ban Ve hydroelectric reservoir are mainly inhabited by the Kho Mu, Thai and Mong people.
Although 50 - 70km away from the district center, this land is fertile and has a cool climate, suitable for a number of agricultural products such as: squash, pumpkin, taro, and melon.
Every year from October onwards is the time when people start harvesting the above mentioned agricultural products. In previous years, due to traffic restrictions, people had to travel by boat to get to the lake, which took a long time, while agricultural products could not be preserved for long, which greatly affected the production, livestock farming and goods circulation activities of the people.

Traders come to the commune center to buy agricultural products for people of Mai Son commune. |
This year, thanks to favorable weather, the above agricultural products have a good harvest. It is even happier that the Tay Nghe An road has helped people promote socio-economic development. Trucks have reached the center of the communes, so the price of agricultural products has also been good, and they are consumed quickly.
Accordingly, taro is sold by people at a price of 80,000 - 90,000 VND/kg. Agricultural products such as squash and pumpkin are priced at 40,000 - 50,000 VND/kg. Up to this point, dozens of tons of typical agricultural products of the people in the lake area have been purchased by traders.
“In previous years, my family could not sell the green squash and pumpkin so we had to feed them to the pigs. Taro was also difficult to sell because it took 6 or 7 hours by boat to get to the commune center. This year, we have a good harvest and the tissue is easy to sell, because the asphalt road has reached the commune center, so we are very excited. Up to now, most of the agricultural products of my village have been sold, only a few are left for seeds for next season" - Mr. Gia Ba Danh, residing in Cha Lo 2 village, Mai Son commune (Tuong Duong) happily boasted.
