Vietnam attends international inter-party conference on global challenges
The international inter-party online conference with the theme “Global Challenges of the 21st Century: Assessment of Parties” was held at the initiative of the ruling United Russia Party in the Russian Federation on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the Party's founding.
On the afternoon of December 1, at the Party Central Committee Headquarters, the delegation of the Communist Party of Vietnam led by Politburo member and Permanent Secretary of the Secretariat Vo Van Thuong attended.
The conference was attended by more than 30 delegations of political parties around the world, including heads of state or government and party leaders.
In his welcoming speech at the Conference, President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin emphasized the importance of inter-party cooperation in international relations, hoping that the Conference would be an opportunity for parties to share experiences, viewpoints and coordinate in responding to global challenges.

In his opening speech, Chairman of the United Russia Party Dmitry Medvedev affirmed the position of the United Russia Party in Russian politics; clearly stated his stance in support of strengthening a fair and stable system of international relations based on the United Nations Charter, ASEAN's leading role in resolving key regional issues, emphasizing that Russia is ready to cooperate to strengthen existing ASEAN mechanisms and called on countries around the world to make joint efforts and share experiences in responding to global challenges, including the Covid-19 pandemic.
Speaking at the conference, Standing member of the Secretariat Vo Van Thuong highly appreciated the initiative of the United Russia Party; affirmed that peace, cooperation and development continue to be the major trend in the world; the process of globalization and world economic integration, although facing many difficulties, continues to create momentum for development along with the fourth industrial revolution; emphasized that the world in the 21st century also witnesses non-traditional challenges as shown by the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.
Standing member of the Secretariat Vo Van Thuong suggested that parties give priority to strengthening common awareness of the need to enhance peace and security; pay attention to promoting effective responses to non-traditional security challenges; and develop relations and cooperation between political parties on common issues.

The Standing Secretariat also discussed Vietnam's development goals and guidelines, foreign policy, and important achievements, emphasizing that party diplomacy is one of the pillars of Vietnam's foreign affairs and affirming the importance of the Vietnam-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership and between the Communist Party of Vietnam and the United Russia Party.
On the occasion of the Conference, witnessed by Standing member of the Secretariat and Chairman of the Supreme Council of the United Russia Party Boris Gryzlov, Head of the Central Committee's External Relations Commission Le Hoai Trung and Deputy Secretary of the Plenary Council of the United Russia Party Andrey Klimov signed online the Minutes of Cooperation with the United Russia Party for the period 2022-2024, aiming to expand and deepen the comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties and the two countries.
