Vietnam won gold medal at International Biology Olympiad

Student Truong Dong Hung from Quoc Hoc Hue High School for the Gifted (Thua Thien Hue) won the gold medal.

On July 30, the Department of Quality Management (Ministry of Education and Training) announced that the Vietnamese student delegation participating in the International Biology Olympiad in the UK had achieved results with one gold medal and two silver medals.

The gold medal went to Truong Dong Hung (grade 12, Quoc Hoc Hue High School for the Gifted, Thua Thien Hue). Duong Tien Quang Huy (grade 12, Lam Son High School for the Gifted, Thanh Hoa) and Nguyen Phuong Thao (grade 11, High School for the Gifted in Natural Sciences, Hanoi National University) won silver medals.

Student Truong Dong Hung achieved 55% of the practical score and 75% of the theoretical score, ranking 22nd out of 245 candidates, the highest individual achievement among Vietnamese students participating in the International Biology Olympiad.

With the above results, Vietnam ranks12th on the chart,The highest achievement of the International Biology Olympiad team ever, following the success of the Math, Physics and Chemistry teams.In 2016, the Vietnamese team won one gold, one silver and two bronze medals.

Vietnamese candidates compete in the 2017 International Biology Olympiad in London (UK).

The 28th International Biology Olympiad 2017 was held in London, UK from July 23 to 30. There were 68 participating countries and territories and 4 observer countries with a total of 245 contestants.
