Vietnam produces its own camouflage weapons
The Acceptance Council of the Air Defense - Air Force Service has just organized the acceptance of the inflatable Su-30 model camouflage weapon produced by Factory Z176.
This information was mentioned by PK-KQ newspaper in an article published on September 27. At this event, representatives of Factory Z176 reported on the process and results of research and production of Su-30 aircraft models. The acceptance council assessed and recognized the results of the product meeting the technical standards as required.

After evaluation, the Acceptance Council proposed that the Ministry of National Defense allow production and put into service; at the same time, it proposed that Factory Z176 continue to research and develop other inflatable model products such as: Su-22 aircraft, C125-2TM missile system, warning radar system, etc.
According to public information, along with Vietnam, the Russian Army is also equipped with inflatable weapons for camouflage and dummy purposes that can distract the enemy and lure enemy attack weapons away from real combat units.
The mock-ups of the S-300 missile system, T-72 and T-80 tanks, Su-27 and MiG-31 fighters have special functions, said Yuri Stepanov, head of the laboratory of the Rusbal Scientific-Production Union (NPP) in the city of Khotkovo.
"Modern reconnaissance and weapons do not give real technical equipment a chance to survive. Thanks to inflatable models, we can increase the survival rate of real weapon systems. The enemy will destroy false targets, and thus waste precious time searching for real targets," said Stepanov.
The average weight of a rubber engineering unit is 30 kg. The model is made of waterproof fabric and takes up little space when folded. Inflatable tanks and fighters reach the size of real tanks and planes in 5 minutes, while at a distance of 100 m they are indistinguishable from real engineering vehicles, the manufacturer claims.
The inflatable models simulate the heat and radar signature of real technical weapons. “From the air, the enemy will not detect the fake, because the models also have engine heat generators, and thanks to the special coating on the fabric, the fake tanks also reflect the enemy's radar waves,” Stepanov explained.
Changing the state of the model from marching to combat also allows to create fakes instead of real targets. For example, a tank rotates its turret, opens its hatch. Inflatable models are gradually replacing plywood products. According to Mr. Stepanov, NPP Rusbal has been producing inflatable S-300 missile systems for several years under the order of the Russian Ministry of Defense. In addition, the Russian Army also "put into service" model aircraft Su-27 and MiG-31.
It is known that during the Vietnam War, Vietnamese missile troops used S-75 missile models made of pressed steel to deceive the reconnaissance activities of the US Air Force. This tactic was effective in the effort to fight against the US's destructive war.
The use of inflatable models also helps ground forces "show off". Photos obtained from aerial reconnaissance activities will make the enemy panic because of the rapid increase in the number of weapons on the ground.
Another benefit of using inflatable models is that they make the enemy waste bombs and bullets when they attack fake targets. It can be said that using inflatable weapon models to deceive the enemy is a very effective active defense measure even in modern warfare.
