Viettel opens 1,000 Telehealth remote medical examination and treatment points
(Baonghean.vn) - In just 2 months, Viettel has coordinated with the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Information and Communications and medical facilities to deploy 1,000 remote medical examination and treatment points through the Telehealth system. In Nghe An alone, 15 Telehealth connection points have been successfully deployed by Viettel, moving towards deploying 30 points across the province in 2020.
On September 25, 2020, the Ministry of Health coordinated with Viettel to inaugurate 1,000 remote medical examination and treatment points. Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc attended and directed the ceremony.
Implementing the Prime Minister's direction, the Ministry of Health has issued the Project on remote medical examination and treatment for the period 2020 - 2025 in Decision 2628/QD-BYT dated June 22, 2020 with the main viewpoint: "The quality of medical examination and treatment reaches higher and further". This message is meaningful in helping to enhance the professional capacity of lower-level hospitals, raising them to "higher quality"; at the same time, the professional knowledge of higher levels is "spread further" to all people across all regions of the country.

In just 2 months, Viettel has coordinated with the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Information and Communications and medical facilities to deploy 1,000 remote medical examination and treatment points through the Telehealth system. It can be said that this is a record-breaking deployment time and meets the needs of medical examination and treatment from local areas to the country's leading hospitals.
In the context of the Covid-19 pandemic and the overload of upper-level hospitals, Viettel's Telehealth system has met the needs of medical examination and treatment for the front line, with the direct participation of leading experts and reducing the load on upper-level hospitals.
Speaking at the ceremony, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc affirmed that the event has a humane meaning as it brings the best healthcare opportunities to people in all regions. The Prime Minister praised the good cooperation and quick implementation of Viettel Group in this meaningful project.
Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc also commended and congratulated the Ministry of Health for quickly concretizing the National Digital Transformation Program for the sector; successfully implementing the project to build a remote medical examination and treatment system, aiming to improve the quality of health care for people in all regions of the country, including remote areas and islands.

After 2 months of simultaneous and drastic implementation, the Viettel Telehealth Project was completed 15 days ahead of schedule, exceeding the target of phase 1 by 5 connection points. Telehealth's remote medical examination and treatment points have connected more than 20 central hospitals and end-line hospitals in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City with hospitals and medical examination and treatment facilities in remote areas such as Truong Sa, Co To, Muong Nhe... From there, people in any region or area across the country can be consulted, examined and treated promptly by leading doctors at the Ministry of Health and central hospitals.

The implementation of the Telehealth system has helped save time and costs for people (no need to transfer), increased the rate of successful and timely medical examination and treatment; created trust for people when examining and treating diseases right in the locality. In particular, difficult and dangerous cases have been consulted and treated promptly by leading doctors such as heart surgery or other incurable diseases.
During the ceremony, Viettel donated 170 Telehealth examination and treatment points to the Ministry of Health.
In Nghe An, the Provincial People's Committee, the Department of Health and Viettel have successfully deployed 15 Telehealth connection points, moving towards deploying 30 points across the province in 2020 and connecting to commune health centers in 2021.
Viettel has also sponsored the province to set up 4 connection points in disadvantaged districts. By connecting all medical facilities across the province, provincial hospitals can remotely support medical facilities in districts and communes, especially in remote areas; as well as connect to operate and support from departments and branches down to the grassroots level.
