Due to the continuous rain over the past few days due to the impact of storm No. 3, the residential area of ​​Xop Nam village, Tam Thai commune, Nghe An province is facing the risk of landslides, threatening lives. The commune authorities are urgently evacuating 20 households to safety.

According to information from the Tam Thai border commune authorities, from the early morning of July 22, commune and village officials and functional forces urgently evacuated 20 households from Xop Nam village to temporary accommodation at the local secondary school.

The newly established Tam Thai commune was formed by merging Tam Hop and Tam Thai communes (old). The reason is that the area has had prolonged rain for many days, causing serious landslides, threatening the safety of people's lives and property.

Currently, Xop Nam village has 83 households. Of these, 20 households are directly affected and need to be relocated.

It is known that the threat of landslides and rockfalls for 20 households in Xop Nam village has occurred since 2021. At that time, the local government also reported to the Provincial People's Committee, proposing to arrange resettlement areas to move people to a safe place. The planned relocation site is the production area in Cang and Xop Nam villages, with an area of ​​15 hectares.
