Dien Cat Commune (Dien Chau) celebrates its 70th anniversary
(Baonghean.vn) - Over 70 years of construction and development, Dien Cat commune (Dien Chau) has always promoted the spirit of solidarity, the Party Committee, government and people have achieved many great achievements in all fields, pioneering on the path of innovation, building the homeland to be increasingly rich, beautiful and civilized.
On the morning of September 1, the Party Committee, Government and People of Dien Cat Commune (Dien Chau District) solemnly held a ceremony to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the commune's founding. Attending the ceremony were leaders of Dien Chau District, representatives of departments, offices, district level, neighboring communes and a large number of people in Dien Cat.
Before the August Revolution, the land of Dien Cat today belonged to Thai Xa commune, Dien Chau district. In March 1946, the land of Dien Cat commune belonged to Tan Dan commune; in early 1948, Tan Son commune was established; in early 1950, Minh Chau commune was established. Based on the mission requirements, at the end of 1953, Minh Chau commune was divided into 5 communes: Dien Binh, Dien Minh, Dien Cat, Dien Thang, Dien Loi. From here, Dien Cat commune officially appeared on the administrative map of Vietnam.
In the fight against foreign invaders, especially since the Party's leadership, the people of Dien Cat actively contributed human and material resources. This was also the cradle of the revolutionary movement in Dien Chau district at that time.
The war ended, the South was completely liberated, the country was unified, the whole Dien Cat commune had 1,339 people awarded medals and badges of various types; 206 martyrs, 9 heroic Vietnamese mothers, 10 veteran revolutionary cadres, 4 pre-uprising cadres, 1 Hero of the People's Armed Forces, 177 wounded and sick soldiers. Those great achievements and contributions of the Party Committee and people of the commune were recognized by the Party and State, and awarded the Third Class Resistance Medal. In 2001, Dien Cat commune was honored to receive the title of Heroic Commune of the People's Armed Forces.
After the liberation of the country, under the leadership of the District Party Committee, Dien Cat has always been the leading locality in promoting the effective operation of the agricultural cooperative model. The effective operation of cooperatives has contributed to the production of wealth for society, gradually improving the material and spiritual life of the people. In particular, promoting the advantages of the locality, the Party Committee has led the people to be proactive and active in innovating the economic production model.
Up to now, the commune has always maintained stable economic development, promoted the trading of agricultural products combined with the development of commercial and mechanical services, creating many jobs and increasing income for rural workers. The average annual economic growth rate reached 10.3% of the plan. The average income per capita at the end of 2022 was 47.1 million VND/person/year.
With a vibrant economic development, Dien Cat has the conditions to invest in building new rural areas. Thanks to the breakthrough, creativity, and flexibility in leadership and direction, and the solidarity and unanimity of the people, Dien Cat has attracted many resources to invest in building rural infrastructure. The total mobilized capital for investment and building new rural areas is 233,780 billion VND; of which the people contributed 158.62 billion VND, the rest is from the State and local budgets.
With the efforts of the entire political system and the people, in 2016, Dien Cat was recognized by the People's Committee of Nghe An province as a commune meeting new rural standards. After reaching the finish line, the commune continued to improve the quality of the criteria and build a set of criteria for advanced new rural communes. From 2020 to now, the whole commune has invested in the construction of 26 works, exceeding 100% of the Resolution's targets with a total investment of more than 90.6 billion VND.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Tang Van Luyen - Chairman of Dien Chau District People's Committee congratulated the achievements that the Party Committee, government and people of Dien Cat commune have achieved in recent years. At the same time, he hoped that Dien Cat commune would unite, strive to overcome all difficulties and challenges, and be determined to successfully realize the goals, strive to complete the socio-economic development targets, and strive to reach the goal of advanced rural areas and model rural areas in the coming years.
