“What happened in Munich was horrifying. We hope our friends in Germany will soon bring those responsible to justice,” Hillary Clinton said on her personal page.

Clinton had previously chosen Senator Tim Kaine as her running mate in the race for the White House. She planned to formally announce this choice to her supporters yesterday, but the attack in Germany forced her to postpone the announcement.

Meanwhile, Trump wrote on Twitter: “Our prayers are with all the victims of the terrible attack in Munich. This cannot happen again. The growth of terrorism threatens civilized life, and we must do everything possible to eliminate it.”

These were the words Trump spoke at the Republican National Convention on Thursday, July 21, when he affirmed that he would stand side by side with allied countries to destroy radical Islamic terrorism.

Trump then tweeted, “Another attack, this time in Germany. Many dead. God bless the victims in Munich.”

The White House condemned the attack in Germany as a “heinous act” in a press release this morning:

“The United States strongly condemns the terrorist attack that claimed innocent lives in Munich, Germany. We do not yet know the full facts, but we do know that this heinous act killed and injured many people in one of Europe’s busiest cities. Our prayers go out to the families and loved ones of those who died, and we wish a speedy recovery to those injured.”

“The United States stands with Germany in the wake of this tragedy. We will provide whatever resources are available to support the investigation. The resolve of Germany, the United States, and the international community will never waver in the face of these cowardly acts of violence.”
