Thai Son Commune (Do Luong) strives to fight drought for more than 100 hectares of rice

(Baonghean.vn) - Yen Trach reservoir is running out of water, with only about 350 m left.3water/1.07 million m3, not enough water for rice irrigation. Therefore, from March 28 to now, the People's Committee of Thai Son commune (Do Luong) has been dredging the N3 canal, over 700 meters long,to pump from Van Trang Pumping Station system to "save" nearly 100 hectares of drought-stricken rice.

The N3 canal has been dredged to a depth of 1.8 meters and a width of more than 2 meters. Up to now, nearly 5,000 m2 has been dredged.3mud, soil, expected to be completed by April 14. Currently, Thai Son Commune People's Committee has purchased a 500 m3/hour oil pump. After dredging, the pump will be placed in the N3 canal to pump water to "save" rice and repair damaged sewer works.

It is known that the total investment for drought prevention is 450 million VND, of which the cost of dredging N3 canal is about 200 million VND, oil pumps and other accessories are worth 100 million VND, and repairing bridges and culverts on the route is 150 million VND.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Yen, Chairwoman of Thai Son Commune People's Committee, said: N3 Canal plays an important role in drought prevention, however, the canal is silted, the system of small bridges and culverts is damaged. The commune is actively mobilizing resources to repair and upgrade to serve agricultural production.
