According to the Dien Chau Literature and Arts Association, musician Hoang Nguyen's birth name is Cao Cu Phuc, born on January 3, 1930 in Cho Moi hamlet (now hamlet 2, Dien Binh commune), died on August 21, 1973 in Vung Tau due to a traffic accident. However, for a long time, many documents recorded that he was born in 1932 in Quang Tri.

The confusion about birth year and place has two reasons: Because when he entered Hue National School, he was too old, so he had to declare his age two years lower to be able to study; when he reached school age, he moved to Quang Tri to live with his father, siblings and stepmother, so the documents mistakenly recorded his hometown there.

There were 6 papers presented at the conference by musicians, art and culture researchers and relatives of musician Hoang Nguyen. The content of the papers focused on affirming that Hoang Nguyen was a romantic and talented musician, a son of the Cao Cu family in his hometown of Dien Chau (Nghe An).
