July 10, 2017 21:23

The Government Inspectorate (GIA) said that 77 people who were required to declare their assets had their assets and income verified, mainly for personnel work.

This afternoon, the Government Inspectorate held an online conference to review the work of the first 6 months of the year and deploy tasks for the last 6 months of the year.

According to the report of the Government Inspectorate on transparency of assets and income of officials and civil servants, the number of people who declared their assets and income in 2016 reached 99.8% of the number of people required to declare. Many ministries, branches and localities have 100% of people who declared their assets and income.

Currently, 77 people are required to declare their assets and income to be verified for personnel work. Some cases are verified due to reports of dishonest asset declarations or due to public opinion, reflections from the people and the press.

Disciplined 4 people for lack of responsibility for corruption

Deputy General Inspector Nguyen Duc Hanh said that in the first 6 months of the year, the entire inspection sector carried out more than 3,800 administrative inspections and more than 136,000 specialized inspections and checks.

Through inspection, violations of 29,510 billion VND, 4,978 hectares of land were discovered, and it was recommended to recover 19,521 billion VND to the state budget; administrative disciplinary action was recommended against 724 groups and 22 individuals, and 49 cases and 113 subjects were transferred to the investigation agency for criminal handling.

There was one case where a leader was found to be irresponsible for allowing corruption to occur; 4 people were disciplined for being irresponsible for allowing corruption to occur, including 3 people whose violations were discovered in the previous period.

Complaints and denunciations are being exploited and incited by bad guys.

Regarding the situation of complaints and denunciations, the Deputy General Inspectorate of the Government admitted that there is a tendency for both the number of cases and large groups of people to increase, and the situation continues to be complicated and intense in some localities such as Hanoi, Bac Ninh, Ha Tinh, Ho Chi Minh City...

In particular, recently, the situation of mass petitions has had many complicated developments. It is worrying that complaints and denunciations are being exploited by bad guys to incite, distort, defame, threaten and affect security and order, negatively impacting the psychology of officials and people.

In some localities, there have been cases of citizens gathering in large numbers to protest against the government, even causing disturbances, obstructing and arresting officials performing their duties.

The Government Inspectorate also frankly stated that in handling complaints and denunciations, there are still phenomena of pushing and avoiding, many cases are still resolved slowly, not completely, not reasonable, when the case becomes complicated, people are confused and impatient, so the efficiency is not high.

There are also places showing signs of becoming hot spots, and the effectiveness of inspection and responsibility in implementing the law on receiving citizens and handling complaints and denunciations is not clear.

In the coming time, the Government Inspectorate affirms that it will carry out planned inspections along with surprise inspections when there are signs of violations, focusing on areas prone to negativity and corruption, areas of public concern, with many complaints and denunciations, or inspect cases assigned by the Prime Minister.
