Handling 4 cases of illegal sand exploitation and storage on Lam River

At 7:45 a.m. on April 6, 2021, in the Lam River basin in Hamlet 02, Thanh Duong and Thanh Giang communes, Thanh Chuong district, Team 2 of the Environmental Police Department presided over and coordinated with Thanh Chuong District Police to discover 3 cases, 3 subjects all residing in Thanh Chuong district were committing acts ofillegal sand mining, seized 20m3sand.

Specifically, the iron-hulled boat of Ms. Nguyen Thi Long (born in 1968), residing in Thanh Giang commune, has exploited 3m3sand; the boat of Mr. Nguyen Thanh Son (born 2001), Thanh Ha commune, has exploited 9m3Sand and boat of Mr. Ngu Van Doai (born in 1976), residing in Dong Van commune, have exploited 8m3sand.
All of the above vehicles hire an additional worker and each boat has 2 high-capacity sand suction machines, operating from midnight to dawn the next day.
The illegally exploited sand was gathered at the wharf of Mr. Nguyen Dinh Dung (born in 1978), residing in Thanh Ha commune, Thanh Chuong district.
Here, the authorities discovered more than 1,000m3Sand is gathered without legal origin.
Through investigation, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Dung is the owner of the sand dock in Thanh Ha commune, hiring the above subjects to exploit sand, with daily wages ranging from 100 to 300 thousand VND.

Currently, the Environmental Police Department has made an initial record andhandover of caseto Thanh Chuong District Police to continue investigation and handling in accordance with the law.
