Handling of Retired Officials Who Have Wronged Their Positions: Destroying the Concept of “Safe Landing”
No longer having a position or power in the system does not mean he has a "safe space" to "land safely".
Another official was disciplined after retirement, extending the list of officials under the Central management who have been disciplined to a total of 60 people since the beginning of the 12th term. The public is no longer "strange" to this kind of news because the safe zone has long been excluded from retired officials.
Retirement does not mean the end of responsibility. |
Former Minister Bui Quang Vinh was considered a straightforward, capable, and prestigious person. As Minister, he left his mark as a Commander who dared to think and act...Now, having to be disciplined by the Party is a regrettable thing. Despite the working process and contributions to the Party and the State, no one is above Party discipline and State law.
Regarding the violations in the AVG purchase case, former Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Bac Son, although he had "landed", was also severely disciplined. Before Mr. Nguyen Bac Son, Mr. Vu Huy Hoang - former Minister of Industry and Trade was also disciplined after his retirement.
Four years ago, former Government Inspector General Tran Van Truyen was considered the first official under the Central Government’s management to be disciplined after “landing”. Since then, many officials have had to pay the price for their past mistakes.
No longer having power does not mean you have "safe skies" to "land safely". No longer having a position does not mean no more responsibility.
The public handling of retired officials is to declare war on “term mindset”, to declare war on those who want to take the “sweep train” to have a comfortable old age… The removal of all positions that seem to have little meaning when they no longer have power is painful enough for those who value honor and integrity.
Not only receiving Party discipline, with violations that constitute crimes, retired officials are also not outside the law. Lieutenant General Nguyen Quoc Thuoc - former Commander of Military Region 4, former National Assembly delegate once said: "How many crimes and scandals have been committed, leaving many consequences for the people, if there is no discipline, the people will not accept it."
Mr. Phan Van Vinh - former Director General of the General Department of Police, who had 45 years of service, was awarded the title of hero, had gone through life and death with all kinds of criminals, and now stands with criminals. If he cannot control himself and put the interests of the Fatherland first, how can he hope to enjoy a peaceful old age with "birds, trees, and ornamental fish". His late regret when thinking about the past, about his family and children certainly contributes to the warning of those who intend to get involved.
Merits and crimes are clear, wrongdoings are dealt with accordingly, regardless of whether the authority is in office or retired, the decisive actions of the authorities are supported by the people. Having support means having more trust.
