On the evening of November 15, the People's Committee of Nghe An province organized a "Memorial Ceremony for Traffic Accident Victims" in 2020. Attending the ceremony were representatives of the Party Committee of the Provincial Agencies, provincial departments, branches, and sectors, along with youth union members, students, and armed forces in the province.

In the first 10 months of the year, Nghe An province had 187 traffic accidents, killing 111 people, injuring 132 people; damaging 129 cars, 121 motorbikes, 09 electric motorbikes, 07 other vehicles. Compared to the same period in 2019, there were 22 fewer cases, 20 fewer deaths, and 13 fewer injuries. There were 12 localities with a decrease in the number of deaths due to traffic accidents compared to the same period in 2019.

Nghe An Traffic Police organized more than 26,000 patrols, detected, recorded administrative violations and issued decisions to fine more than 64,000 cases, transferring to the Treasury to collect fines of more than 69 billion VND. Of which, through the surveillance camera system, 5,589 cases were detected and recorded, 4,012 vehicle owners were notified, and the State Treasury collected fines of more than 1 billion VND; 885 cases of drivers violating alcohol concentration and 65 drivers with drugs in their bodies were handled, transferring to the Treasury to collect fines of more than 4.5 billion VND.

In the first 10 months of the year, the Department of Transport - Standing Agency of the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee organized 102 car tests, 289 motorbike tests; issued, exchanged and reissued 71,285 driving licenses of all classes; and inspected 42,804 vehicles.
At the memorial service, the delegates looked back at the statistics and incidents of traffic accidents that occurred in Nghe An province as well as the whole country in the first 10 months of 2020. In addition, there were stories about unfortunate lives lost due to traffic accidents and the pain of families and relatives when someone was involved in a traffic accident.

Through the memorial ceremony with the theme "Remembering the departed for the sake of those left behind" to warn the masses and the whole society about the disaster of traffic accidents, the causes and risks of traffic accidents. At the same time, it contributes to changing and raising people's awareness and consciousness in obeying the law, traffic safety and order, preventing traffic accidents, gradually achieving the goal of reducing traffic accidents.
