The leader of the Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information said that he had discussed with Facebook and would sign an official dispatch requesting Facebook to handle and fix the error tomorrow, July 2.

"We have discussed this matter with Facebook. They said they are aware of the matter and are researching a solution. Tomorrow, July 2, we will sign a document requesting Facebook to handle and correct the mistake of writing about Hoang Sa and Truong Sa on Facebook's map," Mr. Le Quang Tu Do, Deputy Director of the Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information - Ministry of Information and Communications, replied.Zing.vnregarding the fact that some Facebook maps show Vietnam's Hoang Sa and Truong Sa as belonging to Chinese territory.

Previously, some marketing groups in Vietnam were abuzz with information that when choosing to advertise by territory on Facebook, the two archipelagos of Hoang Sa and Truong Sa were assigned to China's sovereignty. Meanwhile, when choosing to advertise in Vietnam, these two archipelagos did not appear.

The Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information will send a dispatch requesting Facebook to correct the display error on the map of the two archipelagos of Hoang Sa and Truong Sa.

In addition, the map showing the density of livestream users also shows the words "Sansha", the Chinese name for Vietnam's Hoang Sa and Truong Sa, in the position of the two archipelagos.

Ms. Le Diep Kieu Trang, Director of Facebook Vietnam, has not yet responded to this incident.

Talk toZing.vn, Master Hoang Viet, lecturer at Ho Chi Minh City University of Law, said that China is illegally occupying the Hoang Sa archipelago, so Facebook cannot use the name Tam Sa to refer to this location.

"As for Truong Sa, this archipelago has just been recognized by the world court as a submerged bank. Therefore, China's claim of sovereignty here is not recognized," Mr. Viet said.

In 2015, Google also caused controversy when it used the name Tam Sa on Google Maps.

Google later made a change, marking the entire Hoang Sa archipelago of Vietnam by its international name, Paracel. Searching for "Sansha" (Sansha) as it is called in China is no longer valid.

The so-called "Sansha City" was established by China in July 2012 to carry out its plan to control the East Sea, including Vietnam's Truong Sa and Hoang Sa archipelagos and the Scarborough Shoal disputed with the Philippines.
