(Baonghean.vn) - YouTube has recently unveiled a series of new artificial intelligence (AI)-powered tools to help content creators produce videos and reach a wider audience, as companies race to directly incorporate generative AI technology into their core products.

“We want to make it easier for people to feel like they can create, and we believe that creative AI will make that happen,” said YouTube CEO Neal Mohan during the company’s annual Made On YouTube product event.

“AI will enable people to push the boundaries of creative expression by making difficult things simple,” Mohan added, saying YouTube is trying to bring “these powerful tools” to the masses.

The Alphabet-Google-owned video platform has introduced a new AI-generated feature called “Dream Screen” exclusively for its short-form video arm YouTube Shorts — a TikTok competitor. Dream Screen is an experimental feature that allows content creators to add AI-generated image or video backgrounds to their videos.

To use the Dream Screen feature, creators can enter their idea for a wallpaper as a prompt and the platform will do the rest. For example, users can create a wallpaper that makes it look like they're in outer space or on a beach where the sand is made of jelly beans.

The company says the Dream Screen feature is rolling out to select creators and will roll out more broadly next year.

YouTube also unveiled new AI-powered tools that creators can access to help outline videos or search for specific music using descriptive terms. YouTube said it is bringing an AI-powered dubbing tool that will let users share their videos in different languages.

Alan Chikin Chow, 26, a Los Angeles-based creator who recently hit 30 million subscribers on YouTube, told CNN he's excited to use the new AI-powered voiceover tool for his comedy videos. Chikin Chow is now considered the most-watched short-form YouTube creator in the world.

By using new AI-powered voiceover features, Alan Chikin Chow says he hopes to reach audiences in new parts of the world who might not otherwise be able to engage with his content.

Chikin Chow added that he is also excited to use the new editing tools to help save time.

The rise of generative AI has been energizing the tech sector and bringing it to a wider audience, and generative AI has also become the latest buzzword in Silicon Valley since the launch of OpenAI's ChatGPT service late last year.

Some industry observers and AI skeptics have argued that powerful new AI tools pose dangers, such as making it easier to spread misinformation through deepfake images or perpetuating bias at a larger scale.

In addition, many creative professionals are concerned that their work is often included in the datasets needed to train and power AI tools, which is also raising alarm bells about intellectual property issues.

And some prominent figures in and out of the tech industry have even said that there is a possibility that AI could lead to the “extinction” of civilization, comparing its potential risk to the risk of “nuclear war.”

Despite the AI craze that has been caused, Chikin Chow told CNN that he ultimately sees it as a “collaborator” and “complement” to help propel his content creation business forward, and those who can embrace change and move with it are the ones who will succeed in the long run.
