The new operating system for iPhone and iPad will be available for trial in June and officially released in the fall.

1. AR interactive feature

Long after Android, iOS began supporting Augmented Reality (AR) virtual reality technology. Through the screen and camera of iPhone and iPad, users can add and interact with virtual objects. For example, try placing a lamp on the desk to see if it is suitable or not.

Apple also offers development tools for programmers to create more AR applications for iOS. The iPhone 8, launching next September, promises to be Apple's first fully AR-enabled device.

2. Siri guesses what users will want

The new iOS assistant has a card-like interface similar to Google's Android. Apple has added a few new female and male voices. But the most interesting thing is that Siri will be able to learn and analyze itself to come up with questions that users might want it to answer. It will also be able to interact with more third-party apps with its voice, allowing users to call a car, pay a bill, or plan a workout with just a command.

Siri doesn't support more languages yet, but it will be able to instantly translate English to Chinese, French, German, Italian, or Spanish.

3. iPhone, iPad can save more photos

With iOS 11, regular camera photos use a new algorithm that reduces the size of the photos without changing the quality. So, with the same amount of memory, iPhones and iPads can double the number of photos stored, which is useful for iOS device users with only 16GB of memory. The same goes for videos.

With the iPhone 7 Plus, Apple also improved the quality of portrait photos in low light conditions. The cameras on both the iPhone and iPad have improved the quality of low light photos thanks to improvements in HDR and optical image stabilization. Long exposure shooting is also added.

4. Refreshed settings tray

Instead of dividing into 2 pages, Control Center is combined into one by Apple but still helps users to turn on and off Wi-Fi, lock screen rotation, adjust volume or screen brightness quickly... With iPhones that support 3D Touch, users can adjust many more things, for example, turn on and off 3G connection, without having to access the Settings application.

5. Change lock screen

If you want, iOS 11 gives you the option to display all notifications on the lock screen. While in iOS 10, Apple made the lock screen more confusing when swiping down to read notifications, swiping left to see widgets and swiping right to open the camera.

6. All iMessages go to the cloud

All of a user’s messages can now be synced to iCloud. So if a user sets up iCloud on a new device, all of their messages will be transferred there. If a message is deleted on one device, it will be deleted on all other devices. Before iOS 10, devices that shared iCloud only received messages from the time they were first set up.

7. iPad is becoming more and more like a computer

Apple has reworked the look and feel of the iOS app dock on iPad, making it more like the MacOS app dock than the iPhone. It appears as soon as you open an app. The multitasking interface has also changed to a grid of small windows rather than tabs.

In addition, the split-screen multitasking feature will support dragging content and images from one screen to the other, providing better working ability on iPad.

8. The App Store has a new look

App illustrations are much larger. Apple also has separate cards for apps, games, and the featured app of the day.

9. Note app adds features to compete with Samsung

In addition to upgrading the 120Hz display on the iPad Pro 10.5 to make the Apple Pencil more sensitive and accurate, in the default notes application of iOS 11, users can now open and write notes right from the lock screen, insert drawings into the middle of the text or even search by handwriting.

10. Send money via text message

This feature is not available in all markets, but shows the ambition to turn iOS into an operating system that meets all common usage needs. With the integration of Apple Pay, users can send money to your account via iMessage, instead of having to use banking services or Internet Banking.
