Vinh oranges have been labeled with electronic traceability labels since 2017 to enhance product value and help consumers avoid buying the wrong Vinh oranges on the market. Since then, every year, production and business unitsVinh orangeRegister to print traceability stamps to stick on each orange before selling to the market.

Ms. Thai Thi Hong Lien - Deputy Head of the Department of Quality Measurement (Department of Science & Technology) said that not all orange gardens located in the Vinh orange geographical indication area are stamped, but those orange gardens must produce to ensure food safety and grow according to the process.VietGAP.

Assessments show that this year, Vinh oranges in many places have generally decreased in quality, especially in the key orange growing area in Quy Hop, which has also decreased in area. The reason is that many years old orange areas are infected with pests and diseases, causing many orange gardens to fall off, forcing many orange gardens to be cut down and replaced with other trees. However, surveys show that many other Vinh orange producing areas in Yen Thanh, Anh Son, Thanh Chuong... have many orange farms with high productivity and good quality. In particular, there are orange farms with a yield of over 30 tons/ha, produced according to VietGAP processes.

According to Ms. Lien, if in 2020, about 40% of orange production had origin traceability labels, this year it has decreased to about 30% of production.

Nghe AnThere are currently about 5,300 hectares of oranges, of which nearly 3,500 hectares are for fruit harvesting, with an average yield of about 16 tons/ha, and an expected output of 56,000 tons of fruit. Thus, in this orange crop, about 18,000 tons of oranges will be labeled.Electronic stamp to trace the origin of Vinh oranges(equivalent to about 70,000 fruits). Most of the orange output with traceability stamps of this orange crop is concentrated in Anh Son, Yen Thanh, Thanh Chuong and some output in Quy Hop, Nghia Dan, Tan Ky, Con Cuong. These are new orange areas, with reasonable investment and technical care by the people, so the quality is good and the yield is high.

Orange varieties grown in Nghe An are recognized as Vinh oranges: Xa Doai oranges, Song Con oranges, Van Du oranges, and Valenxia oranges.

This year, Vinh orange growers have started harvesting since late October and early November. Besides the poor quality orange gardens due to pests and diseases, there are also many orange farms with heavy, juicy, and good quality fruits. It is expected that Vinh orange products will be harvested within 3 months, until the Lunar New Year.

Vinh oranges are a specialty of Nghe An province that is known to consumers inside and outside the province because of their beautiful appearance, juicy flesh, sweet and refreshing taste, characteristic aroma and easy peeling./.
