On March 17, the Investigation Police Department of Ha Giang Province Police said that a working group had arrived at the Mong Cai International Border Gate (CKQT) Border Guard Station - Quang Ninh Border Guard Command to pick up 9 children who were lured to China to reunite with their families. According to Ha Giang Province Police, there are still 19 children who have not been rescued.

Previously, at around 10:15 p.m. on March 13, at the border area of ​​Km1 in Zone 2, Ka Long Ward, Mong Cai City (Quang Ninh), the Patrol and Control Team of Mong Cai International Border Guard Station, while on duty, discovered 9 children, including 7 boys and 2 girls, crossing the border river bank towards China to illegally enter Vietnam.

Through inspection, the working group determined that the children were all Mong ethnic people, residing in Minh Son commune, Bac Me district and Quan Ba ​​commune, Quan Ba ​​district, Ha Giang province. Of these, 3 children could speak Vietnamese and 6 children could not speak Vietnamese. All of the children did not have identification papers and only carried 2 backpacks of clothes.

Receiving the news from Mong Cai International Border Guard Station, the working group of the Criminal Police Department, Ha Giang Provincial Police and some of the children's parents quickly went to Quang Ninh to pick up the children.

According to Ha Giang Provincial Police, on March 2, two groups of Chinese people came to Bac Me and Quan Ba ​​districts to lure children to China to work as hired laborers, with jobs like cutting and planting trees, promising high salaries. Because they were too young and not aware of the danger, the children invited more friends to go with them.

On March 4, a total of 28 children, divided into 2 groups (14 children each) were taken by unknown men in a car to Dong Van district (Ha Giang) and crossed the trail into China. After that, the children were taken by car deep into the interior of China. At that time, the 9 children were discovered by the Chinese police force, rescued, fed and watered, and a car was sent to the riverbank of the border, where they were taken by boat back to Vietnam.

Ha Giang Provincial Police are currently working with relevant agencies and Chinese Police to verify, investigate and quickly rescue the remaining children.
