3,000 billion VND compensation for fishermen in the Central region has arrived in the locality
The Ministry of Finance said that on October 10, the Ministry of Finance temporarily provided 3,000 billion VND to 4 localities to compensate people who suffered losses due to the marine environmental incident. By the end of yesterday, the above temporary amount had been transferred to the accounts of the 4 localities.

At the regular press conference for the third quarter of 2016 of the Ministry of Finance taking place this afternoon (October 11), Deputy Minister Nguyen Huu Chi said that on October 6, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment transferred 150 million USD out of the total 500 million USD in compensation for Formosa Steel Corporation from the temporary deposit account of Natural Resources and Environment opened at VietinBank to the State Treasury account (Vietcombank).
On October 7, the Prime Minister issued Document No. 1776 on the provision of compensation funds for people affected by environmental incidents in four central provinces. The Prime Minister approved the proposal of the Ministry of Finance to provisionally provide VND3,000 billion to four localities, including VND1,000 billion for Ha Tinh, VND1,100 billion for Quang Binh, VND500 billion for Quang Tri and VND400 billion for Thua Thien - Hue.
This amount is taken from the compensation that Formosa Ha Tinh paid so that the provinces can advance 50% of the compensation to the people.
On October 10, the Ministry of Finance sent documents to the People's Committees of Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri and Thua Thien - Hue provinces to announce the provision of compensation funds according to the Prime Minister's direction. At the same time, the Ministry of Finance directed relevant units to immediately transfer the money.
"By the end of October 10, the above temporary allowance had been transferred to the accounts of 4 localities," said Mr. Chi.
In further discussion, Mr. Dao Xuan Tue, Deputy Director of the State Budget Department of the Ministry of Finance, said that in order to transfer money as quickly and conveniently as possible, the Ministry of Finance has instructed localities to set up accounts, independent of the State budget. When the subjects of compensation are clearly identified, the transfer of money is very quick, transparent and clear.
"The compensation process is carried out publicly and transparently, from the stage of determining the compensation recipients at the commune level to the compensation results for each damaged subject," Mr. Dao Xuan Tue affirmed.
