9 restaurants in Dam Tom food court violate food safety and hygiene

(Baonghean.vn) - During the Food Safety Action Month, up to 9 restaurants in the Dam Tom food court in Nghi Loc were handled for violating food safety regulations.

Dam Tom Food Court in Khanh Dong Hamlet, Nghi Khanh Commune has 16 restaurants providing food services. This is the address chosen by many diners when coming to Nghi Loc.

However, during the recent inspection of 10 restaurants by the Nghi Loc District Interdisciplinary Team, 9 restaurants violated food safety and hygiene regulations, the main violations being not having a food safety and hygiene certificate, a periodic health check-up certificate, not keeping food samples, and not having a food supply contract.

Particularly, Bang Thuong and Dung Nam restaurants do not have a business license. Through the handling of violations by the district's interdisciplinary inspection team this time, many restaurants have realized the importance of food safety and hygiene.

In Nghi Loc district, there are currently 811 establishments processing and trading food services, 62 establishments with collective kitchens, and 7 food production establishments. During the food safety action month in 2017, the district established 3 inspection teams on state management of food safety in 30 communes and towns and inspected establishments producing, processing, trading food, trading food services, trading in plant protection drugs and veterinary drugs.

During two campaigns, the delegation inspected 15 food production and trading establishments, focusing on restaurants and food service establishments in 10 central communes of the district; most of these establishments violated food safety and hygiene regulations such as food used for processing without clear origin and not keeping food samples.

Along with propaganda and reminders, the district's interdisciplinary inspection team fined establishments violating food safety regulations VND16 million.

The goal of this year's Food Safety Action Month in Nghi Loc district is to fundamentally resolve current pressing social concerns such as the use of banned substances in livestock farming; significantly reduce pesticide residues in vegetables and fruits; chemical and antibiotic residues in pork, chicken, and farmed aquatic products, creating trust for consumers of food, agricultural products, and aquatic products. Promote the sense of responsibility to the community of individuals, production and business organizations, and consumers in ensuring food safety and hygiene quality./.
