Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Ha re-elected President of the Vietnam Women's Union

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Ha was re-elected as President of the Vietnam Women's Union for the new term.

After 3 days of urgent and serious work, this morning (March 9), in Hanoi, the 12th National Women's Congress held its closing session. Politburo member, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Nguyen Thien Nhan attended.

At the closing session, the Congress voted to approve the Charter of the Vietnam Women's Union (amended and supplemented); the basic targets of the 12th term and the Congress Resolution. Specifically, by the end of the 12th term, the Central level will propose at least 5 policies and projects; the provincial and district levels will propose at least 2 policies and programs related to women.

Mr. Nguyen Thien Nhan presented flowers to the Executive Committee of the 12th Central Committee of the Vietnam Women's Union.

Every year, the Association's vocational training facilities coordinate to introduce vocational training to 75,000 female workers, supporting 2,500 women to start their own businesses. During this term, the Women's Union focuses its resources on promoting two breakthroughs: first, improving the effectiveness of monitoring, social criticism, consulting, and policy proposals, contributing to solving women's urgent problems; second, improving the quality of organization and operation of grassroots associations, diversifying forms of women's gathering, and promoting the ownership of women's members.

The Central Executive Committee of the Vietnam Women's Union, term XII, with 161 members, was introduced and received its duties before the Congress. Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Ha was re-elected as President of the Vietnam Women's Union, term XII.

Mr. Nguyen Thien Nhan awarded the Second Class Independence Medal to Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Hoa.

Speaking at the Congress, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Nguyen Thien Nhan agreed with and highly appreciated the results of the Women's Union's activities in recent times. The Union is a member of the Front, an important organization and has actively and continuously contributed to the cause of national liberation, construction and protection of the Fatherland.

All activities of the Front are based on coordination with member organizations, including the Vietnam Women's Union. Especially in the movement of building new rural areas, sustainable poverty reduction, environmental protection, building happy families... women play a very important role.

Regarding the activities of the Vietnam Women's Union in the coming time, Mr. Nguyen Thien Nhan said: The movement "Women actively study, work creatively and build happy families" needs to connect and accompany the movement of the Front. The targets set by the Union for the 2017-2022 term need to be specific and practical.

“The way women choose targets for their establishments is very good. Each establishment knows and does it themselves. With these targets, the Women's Union will continue to contribute to the national Front movement. The comrades discussed and set a goal of supporting the formation of 300 cooperatives led by women in the next 5 years, which is a new point compared to the previous term. There are many good production households, but individual households are not a long-term model compatible with the market,” said Mr. Nguyen Thien Nhan.
