On April 28, National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan continued to meet with 130 voters of An Lac ward, Ninh Kieu district, Can Tho city.

The National Assembly Chairman said that the issues raised by voters were very profound, not only the opinions of Can Tho voters but also the opinions of voters nationwide such as: 12 projects with losses of thousands of billions "shelved", wrongful compensation, child sexual abuse...

The Party and State are very interested in the contents raised by voters and have also chosen to include a number of issues in the supervision program and report to the National Assembly.

Voter Nguyen Huu Hai (An Lac ward) said that Mr. Vo Kim Cu does not have enough prestige and qualifications to be a National Assembly delegate after serious violations at the Formosa Ha Tinh project and requested to review Mr. Cu's qualifications as a National Assembly delegate.

Responding to voters, National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan said she had received a resignation letter from Mr. Vo Kim Cu due to health reasons.

Mr. Cu was also removed from all previous positions, only the position of Chairman of the Vietnam Cooperative Alliance remained due to no violations during this period.

The Secretariat also directed the Party and the National Assembly delegation to carry out procedures to remove Mr. Cu from his position as a National Assembly delegate.

"If the National Assembly Standing Committee decides to let Mr. Cu stop being a National Assembly delegate before the third session, the National Assembly will still bring this issue up for report at the session. If it is not done in time, this content will be added at the session for the National Assembly to approve," said the National Assembly Chairman.

In cases of injustice, voter Nguyen Thanh Ben recommends that any individual or organization that causes injustice should be responsible for paying compensation and should not use taxpayers' money for compensation.

National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan explained that there are cases of wrongful convictions that are intentional and some that are accidental.

The National Assembly is preparing to submit for approval the Law on State Compensation Liability. In case of wrongful convictions related to corruption, corrupt money will be used to compensate those who have been wrongly convicted.

"If the wrongful conviction is unintentional and the official is not corrupt, the state has other sources such as project recovery money, illegally collected money... to compensate without taking taxpayers' money" - the National Assembly Chairman affirmed.

The issue of thousands of cases of child sexual abuse raised by voters each year, Ms. Ngan said, will be included in the National Assembly's monitoring program.
