The report on the socio-economic, defense and security situation in the first quarter of 2021 reported by the Director of the Department of Planning and Investment said: The first quarter of 2021 took place in the context of the complicated developments of the Covid-19 epidemic. Under the leadership and direction of the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People's Committee, Nghe An province achieved many results in all fields.

The growth rate of gross regional domestic product (GRDP) in Nghe An province in the first quarter of 2021 is estimated to increase by 6.73%. Of which, agriculture, forestry and fishery is estimated to increase by 4.71%; industry - construction increased by 11.7%; services are estimated to increase by 4.92%; product tax minus product subsidies are estimated to increase by 4.25% over the same period in 2020.

In particular, in the first quarter, two important traffic routes, Cua Hoi Bridge, were officially opened to traffic and the Vinh - Cua Lo road was basically opened. Regarding foreign affairs, investment attraction and business development were promoted with many remarkable results.

As of March 17, 2021, 16 new projects have been granted and 27 projects have been adjusted with a total newly granted and increased investment capital of more than VND 7,000 billion. Regarding the budget collection task in the first quarter, it is estimated to be more than VND 4,100 billion, reaching 29.4% of the estimate, equal to 94% of the same period in 2020; budget expenditure is estimated to be nearly VND 5,680 billion, reaching 22.1% of the estimate. Some other areas, such as education and training, administrative reform, national defense, security... have many positive changes in the right direction.

Assessing the press activities in the first quarter of 2021, Deputy Director of the Department of Information and Communications Nguyen Ba Hao emphasized: Basically, the press agencies have closely followed the principles, purposes and propaganda orientation of the province; provided relatively complete and timely information on political, economic, cultural and social activities in the province, meeting the information needs of readers and doing a good job of propaganda and orienting public opinion.

At the press conference, reporters raised a number of issues, requesting departments, branches and localities to focus on solving them: The case of turning the provincial road corridor into a kiosk on provincial road 537B, Cho Mo section, Quynh Luong commune, has been reported for a long time but has not been resolved.

Concluding the press conference, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Bui Dinh Long highly appreciated the contributions of press agencies accompanying the province in all of its activities.

However, there are still some limitations such as: the resident press agencies in the province have not paid much attention to propagating the socio-economic development of the province; departments and branches are still slow in handling issues raised by the press.

Comrade Bui Dinh Long suggested that in the second quarter, press agencies continue to accompany the province, focusing on propagating the implementation of the Resolution of the Party Congresses at all levels; Election of the 15th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels for the 2021-2026 term; Disease and natural disaster prevention and control; Emulation movements, typical economic development models; removing difficulties and obstacles in production and business of people and enterprises.

At the same time, it emphasized that the Provincial People's Committee will direct focused solutions to any recommendations and discussions at the press conference related to any departments, branches, or localities.
