(Baonghean.vn) -On the afternoon of December 20, the Provincial People's Committee held a press conference on the province's socio-economic situation in 2016 and socio-economic development tasks in 2017.

The year 2016 ended with 5 characteristics that greatly impacted the socio-economic development of the province, recording 10 outstanding achievements in the year. In 2017, there are 10 basic tasks and solutions for economic development, and this is the pivotal year to implement the Central resolutions (converting the growth model, restructuring the economy), implementing Resolution 27 of the Politburo and Resolution 24 of the National Assembly...

Discussing the contents of the report at the press conference, 7 opinions of journalists from central and local press agencies raised the following issues: the province's investment attraction policy; the relationship between industrial parks and the press; some projects behind schedule, not yet licensed but still under construction; the province's ability to balance budget expenditures; resolving policies for people with meritorious services...

In addition, the press agencies also raised concerns about the implementation of the new VNEN school model in Nghe An; the income of workers in industrial parks is still very low, life is difficult; the implementation of the 2016 Press Law; 2 projects with investment from the World Bank are at risk of being behind schedule in Vinh City; opinions about the Ho Xuan Huong award; the issue of taking care of the poor during Tet; outstanding debts in the new rural areas; traffic jams in Vinh City...

Comrade Tran Duy Ngoan - Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association of Nghe An province hopes that agencies and sectors will coordinate and support the implementation of the 2016 Press Law.

The Provincial Party Secretary hopes that press agencies will continue to cooperate, support and share with the province to effectively carry out socio-economic development tasks and for the common development goals of the province.

Speaking at the press conference, comrade Nguyen Dac Vinh acknowledged the great contributions of press agencies to the socio-economic development of the province.

He said that 2016 had many advantages, but also many difficulties and challenges. The marine environmental incident in 4 central provinces and natural disasters had affected many areas, as well as the people's thoughts. The growth target was not achieved partly due to the decline in tourism and seafood value. However, with the efforts of the entire political system and the people, the province has achieved remarkable results in socio-economic development. The provincial leaders accepted and will adjust the issues that the press agencies contributed and reflected, such as the issue of contact with the press of state agencies, the withdrawal of slow-progressing projects, the quality of investment project approval, etc.

Regarding the issue of revenue and expenditure balance, the Provincial Party Congress set a target for 2020 - budget revenue of 25,000 - 30,000 billion. If the target is completed, the province will balance its budget and contribute to the Central Government. In 2016, the province's budget revenue reached 10,700 billion VND, which was in the top 12 provinces exceeding the 10,000 billion mark. To achieve the target of the Provincial Congress, great efforts are needed, but we cannot be hasty. It is estimated that by the end of 2018, into 2019, there will be breakthroughs in socio-economic development and budget revenue. Regarding workers' income, the province will try to create conditions for enterprises to produce and do business better, and improve wages for workers. The province will try to arrange the budget, combine with mobilizing enterprises and socializing step by step to invest in cultural institutions serving workers.

Regarding the issue of education according to the VNEN model, the Provincial Party Secretary emphasized: This is an effort to innovate teaching and learning methods of the education sector. We need to calmly consider the goals and roadmap for applying VNEN, analyze and evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of the model. The province's viewpoint is that whichever model better ensures the quality of learning for students, we will choose to implement it. In the first quarter of 2017, the province will preside over an overall assessment of teaching according to the VNEN model to have specific instructions, with the ultimate goal of ensuring the quality of teaching.

Regarding the issue of the Ho Xuan Huong Award, the province will accept comments, study and amend the regulations, and seek opinions from relevant agencies and parties to improve the quality of the award and overcome limitations. Regarding the regulation on not being allowed to receive gifts, the province has issued a document requesting the district not to extend New Year greetings to the province; requesting provincial leaders to prioritize New Year greetings to compatriots and soldiers in border areas, remote areas, and ethnic minority areas, and limit New Year greetings at local headquarters. Regarding new rural construction, the province will focus on directing the settlement of outstanding debts in basic construction, prioritizing investment in production development, improving people's lives, developing education and health care, etc.

Concluding the meeting, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Xuan Duong reaffirmed that 2016 had both advantages and difficulties that affected the socio-economic development of the province, however, it is necessary to acknowledge the socio-economic development results in 2016.

Regarding the activities of press agencies in the province, he highly appreciated the important contributions of press agencies in reflecting and propagating the implementation of socio-economic development tasks of the province with many diverse and rich articles in many fields, creating awareness and emulation movements, consensus at all levels and sectors.

In particular, it is necessary to mention the effectiveness of propaganda for the election of People's Councils at all levels, examples of good people and good deeds, economic models, investment promotion work, outstanding results in building new rural areas, reflecting many cases of limitations in the management work of all levels and sectors as well as the participation of functional departments in resolving people's concerns and recommendations; promoting the cultural identity and scenic spots of Nghe An, improving the spiritual life of the people...

Regarding the direction and tasks for 2017, he requested that press agencies continue to propagate and reflect on the results of the 3rd session of the Provincial People's Council, the results achieved in 2016 and the tasks for 2017. In addition, the press needs to promote the positive and innovative image of the province; social activities for the poor, celebrating the Party and Spring, festivals, investment promotion activities; promote propaganda on ensuring traffic safety, disease prevention, fire prevention, etc.
