Suspect in shooting and murder case arrested

Gia Lai Provincial Police have arrested a suspect in a shooting that killed one person and injured two others in Pleiku city in the early morning of July 2.

Suspect Tieu Duy Dung (commonly known as Ty Cung, (born 1983), residing in Yen Do ward, Pleiku city) was arrested while being treated for an arm injury at a medical facility in Dak Lak province.

According to initial information, at 1 a.m. on July 2, a group of people were drinking on Hai Ba Trung Street, Pleiku City, when Dung's group and some other people attacked, forcing the other group to flee.

At this time, Tran Minh Tan (born in 1997, residing on Tran Quy Cap Street), Nguyen Thanh Vu (born in 1995, Group 10, Yen Do Ward) and Tran Trung Thanh (born in 1982, residing on Group 8, Ia Kring Ward) were at home when they received a phone call from a friend asking them to drive to Hai Ba Trung Street to pick them up. When the three people had just arrived, two people on a motorbike came to block the car. A subject (suspected to be Dung) got out of the car and pulled out a gun, causing the group of people in the car to get out and run away.

As a result, Nguyen Thanh Vu was hit by a bullet in his left shoulder, Tran Trung Thanh was hit in the soft tissue. Tran Minh Tan ran to the intersection of Nguyen Thien Thuat and Le Lai streets (Pleiku) and was hit by two bullets in his stomach and wrist. Although he was taken to the emergency room by local people, Tan died at Gia Lai General Hospital.

Along with arresting Tieu Duy Dung, Gia Lai province police also summoned many subjects related to the case for investigation and clarification.
