Arrest of gambling ring in the house of lottery agency owner

(Baonghean.vn) - When the door was just opened for the woman to enter to play the lottery, undercover detectives from outside quickly rushed into the house and caught the lottery owner red-handed with the evidence of the case.

Since the beginning of 2017, the Thai Hoa Town Police Department has investigated and discovered 5 gambling cases organized at motels, hotels, and even into rubber plantations in the forest to gamble, seizing tens of millions of dong, dozens of motorbikes, phones, and 1 car.

It is worth mentioning that after the gambling lines using the form of shaking the dice were eliminated, the defendants were prosecuted and detained, some subjects organized gambling using the form of recording lottery numbers, causing outrage among the people.

After a period of investigation, the police discovered that Hoang Trung Thai (born in 1983), residing in Tan Phu block, Hoa Hieu ward, Thai Hoa town, had signs of gambling by recording lottery numbers. Further investigation revealed that Thai's family, in addition to selling breakfast, also worked as a Northern lottery agent, so there were many people coming and going.

To fight and clarify Thai's illegal behavior, the Thai Hoa Town Police Department established a special project with code number 0317B. After 1 week, the detective discovered that Thai had relationships with a number of subjects in Vinh City and Hanoi City. In addition, there were a number of subjects in the town who recorded and played lottery numbers at Thai's house. Every day at about 4:30 p.m., the subjects who recorded the lottery numbers would bring the lottery board to Thai's house.

The identities of the subjects who recorded and played the lottery were clarified by the Investigation Committee. Among them, Ho Thi Hue (born in 1967), residing in Dong Tien block, Hoa Hieu ward, often recorded the lottery for Thai. Le Van Trung (born in 1981), residing in Tan Phuc block; Hoang Thi Loan (born in 1967), residing in Dong My hamlet, Dong Hieu commune, Thai Hoa town, and a number of other subjects both recorded the lottery and worked as secretaries (compiling the lottery number tables) for Thai.

After firmly grasping the modus operandi of the above subjects, the plan to crack the case was deployed. To simultaneously arrest the subjects, 4 reconnaissance teams were arranged to lie in ambush at 4 locations in the town.

At around 6:00 p.m. on March 31, detectives discovered a woman coming to Thai's house, suspected to be the subject who came to record lottery numbers, so they approached Thai's house. When the door was just opened, the detectives rushed in to control and catch Thai red-handed with the evidence of the case; confiscated nearly 30 million VND, 2 lottery number books, 4 lottery cables and 6 mobile phones.

At the same time, the remaining reconnaissance teams arrested Ho Thi Hue, Le Van Trung and Hoang Thi Loan.

At the investigation agency, Thai confessed to organizing a gambling ring in the form of recording lottery numbers, in which Ho Thi Hue was the most active participant in recording lottery numbers, coming to Thai every day to receive commission. The remaining subjects confessed to often coming to Thai and Hue's houses to play lottery numbers.

After initiating the case, the Thai Hoa City Police Department prosecuted the defendants. The case is currently under investigation and expansion.
