Nearly 900 smuggled iPhones seized

Quang Ninh Province Traffic Police have just consecutively seized nearly 900 smuggled iPhone brand phones.

At around 9:00 a.m. on December 22, at km 178 of National Highway 18, through Cam Pha City (Quang Ninh), Traffic Police Team No. 2 of the Traffic Police Department of Quang Ninh Provincial Police inspected a passenger car with license plate 14N - 5006 and discovered that passenger Nguyen Thanh Tung (17 years old, residing in Tien Yen District, Quang Ninh) was carrying a handbag containing 41 iPhone brand phones.

Previously, on December 16, in Cam Pha city, Traffic Police Team No. 2 caught Nguyen Cong Thanh (29 years old) driving a pickup truck transporting 641 iPhones. Notably, in order to deceive the authorities, Thanh attached a fake license plate 29C - 023.80 to transport all of the above goods from Mong Cai city, Quang Ninh.

On December 16, in Cam Pha city, Traffic Police Team No. 2 also caught Dang Quang Nguyen (28 years old), driving a pickup truck with license plate 14C - 088.12 transporting 200 iPhones.

All of the iPhones in the above cases did not have valid documents. The subjects were detained by Quang Ninh Provincial Police to expand the investigation into the act of transporting smuggled goods across the border.

According to the authorities, the above cases are part of a network of illegal goods transportation from the border into Vietnam. Notably, the subjects passed through many checkpoints and checkpoints of the joint force border area before being arrested by traffic police in Cam Pha city.
