More than 1.2 tons of Chinese soft-shell turtles seized

Accordingly, on the afternoon of April 13, all of the above Chinese goods were hidden on a converted passenger bus, on the way to Hanoi for consumption, when they were arrested by Department 2 and Dong Da District Police.
Previously, at around 10:00 a.m. the same day, through reconnaissance work to grasp the area, Department 2 and Dong Da District Police received information about a white 29-seat passenger van with license plate 16H-4327 transporting a large quantity of smuggled Chinese household goods.
When the above-mentioned truck was traveling to Uong Bi city (Quang Ninh province), the functional forces signaled to stop the vehicle and conduct an administrative inspection. Through inspection, Department 2 and Dong Da District Police discovered that the converted passenger car was transporting 1.2 tons of live Chinese soft-shell turtles, along with a large quantity of household goods such as bicycles, electric kettles... and a lot of pesticides, all originating from across the border in China.

Through investigation, the bus driver was Hoang Trong Phuong (39 years old, from Thai Tan commune, Nam Sach district, Hai Duong province). Driver Phuong confessed that he was only a hired transporter to Hanoi city for sale. While on the way, he was discovered and arrested. Also at the time of inspection by the authorities, driver Phuong could not present any documents related to the above Chinese shipment.
Regarding the 1.2 tons of live soft-shell turtles, driver Phuong admitted that he had collected them from Chinese traders near the Mong Cai border gate for about 150,000 VND/kg. Currently, the entire shipment is being counted by Department 2 of the Environmental Crime Prevention Police Department and will then be handed over to Dong Da District Police for investigation and handling in accordance with the law.
