Many Vietnamese arrested in drug trafficking ring by sea of ​​former Korean police officer

Up to now, the task force has arrested 22 people and seized a large amount of evidence including 150 kg of drugs and 19 drug cakes.

Regarding the large-scale drug ring led by a former Korean police officer, the latest information from the Department of Drug and Crime Prevention, Border Guard said that the task force has just finished phase 2, arresting a series of additional subjects.

Drugs were hidden in granite blocks for export to South Korea by sea.

This is a large-scale project with the coordination of the Department of Drug and Crime Prevention and Control, Border Guard; the Department of Drug Crime Investigation, Ministry of Public Security; the Department of Anti-Smuggling Investigation under the General Department of Customs; the Department of Drug Crime Investigation, Ho Chi Minh City Police and many other related agencies.

Accordingly, continuing phase 2, on the evening of July 30, the task force ambushed and arrested 7 subjects at 3 luxury apartments all located in Binh Hung commune, Binh Chanh district.

In particular, at house number K25, Camllia Garden, Binh Hung commune, the task force arrested two subjects Le Ho Vu (born 1987), Nguyen Chi Thien (born 1988), both from Ca Mau, and seized 63 bags of crystal meth weighing a total of 63 kg.

The task force continued to expand, arresting 3 more subjects, seizing 55 kg of synthetic drugs and 19 heroin cakes.

Thus, up to now, the task force, in coordination with many units, has arrested a total of 22 subjects, seized 158 kg of synthetic drugs, 19 heroin cakes and many related exhibits.

Previously, on July 18, the task force conducted phase 1 of the search, focusing on searching a cargo container at Cat Lai port, District 2, seizing 40 kg of crystal meth cleverly hidden in granite blocks.

At the same time, the task force searched a series of locations and arrested 12 people, including 2 Koreans and 2 Chinese.

The leader of this ring is Kim Soon Sik (born 1960), a former Korean police officer with 20 years of experience in the industry.

The investigation team clarified that Kim Soon Sik directed his Vietnamese followers to establish APE Technology Machinery & Equipment Company Limited (headquartered on Kha Van Can Street, Linh Dong Ward, Thu Duc District). They cleverly hid drug packages, each weighing 1 kg, in granite blocks to export to Korea by sea.

Up to now, APE Company has exported Granite containers to Korea 5 times and is suspected of containing drugs inside.
