Mr. Duc still holds the key at VFF, despite his resignation announcement
According to the revelation from Mr. Nguyen Tan Anh - Head of HAGL football team, Mr. Duc is currently still holding the position of Vice President in charge of finance of VFF.
This person affirmed that there was no such thing as leaving his post as rumored recently. His job is still to find money to sponsor the team.
Before the 29th SEA Games kicked off, Mr. Duc had declared that if U22 Vietnam did not win the gold medal, he and coach Huu Thang would resign. Unfortunately, Cong Phuong and his teammates disappointed and were even eliminated from the group stage.
Immediately after the loss to U22 Thailand, Coach Huu Thang decided to resign. A few days later, Mr. Duc also announced that he had submitted a resignation letter from his position as Vice President in charge of finance to VFF.

However, at the end of September, fans were surprised to see Mr. Duc in the VFF delegation that went to Korea to negotiate a contract with Coach Park Hang Seo. Public opinion suspected that the tycoon from the Mountain City had an influence in inviting the former assistant of Coach Guus Hiddink, thereby helping HAGL players continue to be used in the national team...
In a recent interview with the press, Mr. Nguyen Tan Anh - Head of the HAGL football team, refuted this. According to Mr. Tan Anh, the fact that Mr. Duc was present in the VFF delegation to Korea to negotiate with Coach Park Hang Seo was because the owner of HAGL Group is still holding the position of Vice President in charge of finance of VFF, and has not resigned, and is responsible for finding sources of money to sponsor the team and the head coach.
Mr. Tan Anh also added that Mr. Duc and HAGL Group are not partners supporting salary for coach Park Hang Seo.
“Mr. Duc is still the Vice President in charge of finance of VFF, so finding money to sponsor the team and the head coach is his responsibility and obligation. I do not know the specific source of money from donors, but as long as there is enough money to cover the salary of the head coach. Later, when he no longer works at VFF, Mr. Duc affirmed that if Vietnamese football needs any support, HAGL is always ready,” Mr. Nguyen Tan Anh answered in an interview with PV.
