8-year-old boy dies from playing with homemade gun
(Baonghean.vn)- A boy in Que Phong brought two friends from the village home to play. Seeing his father's flintlock gun in the corner of the house, he took it out to show his friend how to use it. Unfortunately, the gun went off and the bullet hit him.
On December 21, Que Phong District Police said that a tragic gun misfire had just occurred in the area, killing an 8-year-old child. The victim was identified as Quang Bao Khang (born 2007), residing in Muong Noc Commune, Que Phong District.
Before that, at noon on December 18, Quang Bao Khang (8 years old) in Muong Noc commune invited a group of friends including Ha Duc Lang (10 years old) and Luong Thanh Dat (8 years old) who lived in the same village to come to his house to play. When his parents were away, he saw a homemade flintlock gun standing in the corner of the house and took it out for his friends to play with.

Having seen adults use it, Khang took apart and reassembled a model gun for his classmates to follow. While handing the gun to his friend Ha Duc Lang to try, the gun accidentally went off, and the bullet hit Khang in the chest. Although he was rushed to the district hospital for emergency treatment, the victim died shortly thereafter.
Que Phong District Police said that ethnic minorities still have the habit of storing and using homemade guns and hunting guns in their homes. In fact, there have been many tragic accidents due to guns accidentally going off and shooting people while hunting animals.
