'Patient 1347' has been to many places

Ho Chi Minh City "Patient 1347" taught at Key English center, drank coffee at Highlands Van Hanh Mall, sang karaoke in District 10, before testing positive.

Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health Nguyen Tan Binh said on the evening of November 30 that the 32-year-old male patient, residing on Binh Tien Street, Ward 3, District 6, is an English teacher at two branches in Tan Binh District and District 10. "Patient 1347" had stayed with a male flight attendant, "Patient 1342" in Tan Binh District during the time he was in quarantine.

From November 16 to 25, this teacher taught at Key English Center in District 10 and Tan Binh District, took a lunch break in the rented room with "patient 1342", then returned to his home in District 6.

On November 22, he and a friend drank coffee at Highlands Van Hanh Mall from 8 to 9 p.m. On November 23, around 10 to 11 p.m., he and five other people sang karaoke on Thanh Thai Street, District 10. From November 26 to 28, he went to teach and returned home.

On the evening of November 28, after "patient 1342" was announced, he was identified as F1, quarantined in District 6 and tested. Two days later, the test result was positive for nCoV, he became "patient 1347", admitted to Cu Chi Field Hospital for treatment.

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health has investigated and traced 21 people in Tan Binh District, 9 people in Binh Tan, 7 people in District 6 and 109 people in District 10 who had contact with the patient. All were quarantined and tested. 52 people in Tan Binh District were identified as distant contacts (F2), quarantined at home and tested.

The patient's contact locations include the residential area, two Key English centers, coffee shops, karaoke bars... which are currently temporarily closed for disinfection. All staff, security guards, and parking attendants at these locations are quarantined at home and have their samples taken for testing.

The Ministry of Health said it will provide contact declaration results via Bluezone software to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health to support tracing.

The health sector continues to trace and screen all cases of respiratory infections and suspected infections at medical facilities, especially places where patients have been to, to promptly detect suspected cases.
