Information from Nghe An General Hospital: At 10:35 a.m. on December 30, 2023, the Hospital's Emergency Department received a patient named Minh, born in 1939. The patient was admitted to the hospital by two people from a volunteer group.
The patient was admitted to the hospital in a conscious state, however, when asked, the patient did not answer but only "demanded to go home". Information obtained through the volunteer group showed that this patient had no relatives, often living and begging in the Le Loi area, Vinh city.
The Emergency Department has established the inpatient medical record, examined and treated the necessary problems. The patient was diagnosed with respiratory sepsis/pneumonia/heart failure… The patient was transferred to the General Infection Department of the Tropical Disease Center for treatment.
The patient was admitted to the Department of General Infection in a state of consciousness, agitation, physical exhaustion, cyanosis, and severe dyspnea. The patient was treated with antibiotics, nebulizers, and diuretics and then had good disease progression.
The patient was transferred to area A of the treatment department on January 5, 2024. In area A, the patient received comprehensive care from changing diapers, clothes to eating... The patient's treatment time in area A was from January 5, 2024 to January 12, 2024. During this time, the volunteer group visited twice and paid an advance of 500,000 VND for the patient's meals to the nurse.
On January 12, 2024, the patient's condition rapidly worsened and he was transferred to the A1 intensive care unit. Here, the patient was placed on non-invasive ventilation for about 2 hours but did not respond. The doctor prescribed endotracheal intubation, invasive ventilation, sedation, vasopressors, blood transfusion, fluid and electrolyte replacement. However, due to the seriousness of the disease and many underlying diseases, the patient died at 10:30 a.m. on January 15, 2024.
After the patient died, the Tropical Disease Center, Nghe An General Hospital completed the procedures and handed over the patient's body to the Pathology Department for reception.
Since the patient's condition worsened, hospital staff have contacted and informed the volunteer group many times about the patient's condition, but due to work reasons, the volunteer group has not been able to come.
