On the afternoon of August 17, Da Lat City Police coordinated with the Criminal Police Department of Lam Dong Province Police to arrest Dinh Manh Tai (born in 1992, residing on Thi Sach Street, Da Lat City) to investigate the act of snatching 200 million VND from Ms. VTN T, residing in Ward 11, Da Lat City.
Previously, at noon of the same day, Phan Tan Thanh (born in 1991, residing in Ward 4, Da Lat City) went to Da Lat City Police to confess, admitting to having committed the above daring robbery with Dinh Manh Tai.

At the investigation agency, the subjects initially confessed that after a period of preparation, on August 15, Dinh Manh Tai and Phan Tan Thanh rented a motorbike with the purpose of using it as a means of robbery. These two subjects continuously traveled through many routes in Da Lat City looking for vulnerable people to commit the robbery.
At around 4pm the same day, Tai and Manh discovered Ms. VTN T carrying a handbag out of a bank branch in Ward 9, Da Lat City, then putting it in the trunk of her motorbike. Guessing that there was money inside, the two men immediately followed her on their motorbike.
When she got home, Ms. T had just opened the trunk of her car to take out the bag of money when Tai suddenly ran up from behind, snatched the bag, then rushed to Thanh's car, which was already running and quickly escaped. When they arrived at a deserted area, the two subjects checked the bag, which contained 200 million VND. Dinh Manh Tai took 105 million VND, and gave the rest to Phan Tan Thanh.
On August 16, afraid of being arrested by the police, Tai called Thanh and asked him to escape, but Thanh refused.

On the morning of August 17, Phan Tan Thanh took the money he had just robbed to the bank to open a savings account worth 94 million VND, keeping the remaining 1 million VND for spending.

Because of fear, Thanh went to Da Lat City Police Station at noon that same day to confess. Dinh Manh Tai, after the successful robbery, used 80 million VND to buy game cards, and used the rest to spend and pay off debts. Notably, Tai had a previous conviction of 15 months in prison for theft and was released from prison in February 2018.
