Hau Giang Party Secretary: Mr. Trinh Xuan Thanh is on leave
The Secretary of Hau Giang Provincial Party Committee confirmed that Mr. Trinh Xuan Thanh is still a provincial official, but currently the former Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee is on leave.
On the morning of August 27, Hau Giang Provincial Party Secretary Tran Cong Chanh said that Mr. Trinh Xuan Thanh is taking leave.
“Trinh Xuan Thanh is still a provincial official. Hau Giang is waiting for the Central Government’s conclusion but there is no conclusion yet,” said Mr. Tran Cong Chanh.

Previously, answering Tien Phong newspaper, Mr. Truong Canh Tuyen - Vice Chairman of Hau Giang Provincial People's Committee affirmed: "Mr. Trinh Xuan Thanh no longer holds any position at the Provincial People's Committee". According to Mr. Tuyen, Mr. Thanh is still a member of the Provincial Party Committee managed by the Provincial Party Committee, but he does not know whether the Provincial Party Committee has assigned Mr. Thanh any work or not.
Recently, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and the Party Committee of Hau Giang province held a meeting to review the responsibility of the collective and individuals in accepting Mr. Trinh Xuan Thanh as Vice Chairman of the province. During the meeting, the Secretary and former Secretary of Hau Giang province admitted their mistakes.
Accordingly, Mr. Huynh Minh Chac - former Secretary of Hau Giang Provincial Party Committee admitted his subjective fault of not directing specialized agencies to carefully review Mr. Thanh's profile and work history before accepting him. Mr. Chac did not discuss thoroughly with the Standing Committee before sending a document asking Mr. Thanh to work in Hau Giang, when the province needed a Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee in charge of the industrial sector.

Mr. Chac himself admitted his mistakes in the way he did things, leading to negative public opinion, affecting him personally and the provincial Party Committee. The former Hau Giang Party Secretary also seriously learned from his experience before the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee.
Mr. Tran Cong Chanh - Secretary of Hau Giang Provincial Party Committee (at that time Deputy Secretary - Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee), was also irresponsible in participating in giving opinions on the appraisal of the personnel records and work process before accepting Mr. Thanh.
